urgent can anyone explain what exactly is the privacy eye symbol when browsing?

Friends I am confused concerning privacy when browsing a website. Mostly all the time I see the eye symbol at the bottom of the web page and when i move the pointer on it, it displays privacy policy.
Can you explain exactly what does that mean? In my setting I have block pop up ON. So please help

What browser are you using? And which version of it? It really depends on the browser... but if you are using Internet Explorer, that little eye should refer to the cookies in the site you're browsing. If you also see a "stop" sygnal on it, then your browser is blocking cookies from that site.
At least, I think this should be the meaning... I'm using Firefox since some years and there's no eye here ;)
