Egg Donors

Not everyone can have a baby without help from the medical field. Whether it's artificial insemination, fertility drugs, surrogate mother, or egg donors. I'm familiar with the 1st three, but what exactly is an egg donor? It's obviously not done the same way as a sperm donor. What is the procedure for an egg donor? Then, what happens to the egg? Does it get placed into another female's uterus? It all just confuses me. Birth and parenting are such a wonderful aspect to life and everyone deserves a chance at it if that's what they truly desire! The medical field shocks me & brightens me with all the technologies they have now! It makes me wonder, would you ever be an egg donor? Why or why not? Have you ever been an egg donor? Why did you do it? Would you do it again?

3honor above explains the process it take to be a donor as for whether or not I could do it, I do not think I can. The though of a child created by my assistance and the child not living with me, would be like I had a child and gave it away. I do feel sorry for those who cannot have their own child but this is something for me I do not believe I could ever do.

I've been watching 90210 and that's what made me think of it. Because Annie agreed to be an egg donor (and she had to give herself shots daily *ACK!!!!!*) but then she held a baby right after birth and changed her mind. Part of me thinks that you get a new egg every month and I thought the egg was removed BEFORE a fetus was created so it wouldn't be like I created anything... Altho, both my kids look almost EXACTLY like me... I could only imagine walking down the street and seeing another mini-me... every dirty blonde, blue-green eyed kid I seen I'd wonder if it was mine...

My feelings exactly as I could not live wondering what, who and where my child would be if not with me.

This is new to me. I mean, it is my first time to hear about egg donor. I don't know if the egg of a woman will live once it is taken outside of the female's reproductive organ. Maybe technology will make it happen, but still the natural way of getting pregnant is better to avoid further complications.
