Shouldn't you wash hands after .....

going to the toilet? I just caught a person exiting the toilet without washing her hands!!! It was not the first time either. I clearly heard her flushing, then going out of the cubicle, and then....went out the toilet. I shudder to think of the germs she will be bringing out into the office as she goes around, opening and closing doors, handling the copier, delivering documents, opening files and reading books and putting them back into shelves....grrr.....how scary does that sound? and how irresponsible!

Hi sweetie. A very disgusting habit from a lot of people. Next time, tell her to wash her hands. If she is witty about it, take her by her ear and help her along. Women and girls are suppose to know better when it comes to hygiene. TATA.

I don't think she really know or care. You get people like that, unfortunately.

Yeah, my sentiments exactly. I wonder why she doesn't have the sense to do that, endangering herself and others too.

It's very important to wash your hands after using the restroom, and a lot of other dirty situations. I hope that person who left without doing so used hand sanitizer at some port later on. It's all about personal hygiene. If you are not taking care of your self, you can contaminate other people and make yourself sick as well. Simple things like soap and water seem to be benieth some people in this day and age. These are usually the first to get the flu, and spread it like a plague.

Don't think that person would do that, soap and water are already so easily available in the toilet, why would she bother to go out and use the sanitizer later on. Even if she did, it would have been after she touched a number of objects.

Oh god yes everyone should wash their hands after going to the washroom. I usually wash my hands after touching or using anything. People got to be more careful these days with all the viruses that float around. That person you where talking about was very irresponsible.

I worked with a lady that did the same thing. We worked in an office atmosphere where we were on a computer all day, then someone else came in and used the same computers for the evening shift. This made me so ill just knowing she was touching things and we were touching them after her. I don't understand why people can't get it through their heads that they MUST wash their hands after using the restroom.

They are just plain irresponsible! They have no consideration for others. Never mind that there are lots of germs floating around in the air, we should at least do our part in reducing that. It's not as if they are doing something for others, it is PERSONAL hygiene!

Hi moon. Say, you are traveling in a local train here and feel to go toilet. Unfortunately there is no water, what would you do then? It's a common scene in indian railway. perhaps that lady was experienced from such a railway tour. They who are conscious, always carry a bottle and soap in a bag. Have a nice day.

That is a good practice. It is good to wash hands before and after food as we directly ingest the food and we don't want to have stomach troubles. :)

Eww...that is gross Blue, worse if she's working in a cafe or restaurant, oh no now I'm imagining all that I always carry a little bottle of dettol with me when I go to the toilet because I can imagine myself using my hands for everything without it being washed after toilet. You should have told this girl by the way because she's not just carrying the germs around for herself and for you, but for everyone in the office and that is not nice. Good luck and have a nice day

Hi kodukodu, Nice to hear from you. Luckily? she's working in my office and not in an eating place, she might cause some customers to get stomache. I can't tell her because I didn't see her, I was inside the cubicle and deduced everything by sound. Thanks for the response and have a nice day too! :)

Hi, I am not sure about the "behaviour of old man" because I am not allowed in the male toilet! I think people should be more considerate, especially even in a public place.

I agree wholeheartedly. I also get bothered when people don't wash their hands after changing their kids diapers. Oddly enough, the use of soap is the biggest health advancement human kind has ever made. Washing to remove germs or before eating, cooking or medical procedures and so on is the number one thing we do to reduce infections, prevent the spread of bacteria and germs and reduce our chances of getting sick. It's scary when people don't take the time for this simple step. It's creepy when you notice all the places they go and touch after the bathroom. Ugh. Break out the sanitizer!

Hi doubledawn, Welcome to mylot! I believe this is the first I'm hearing from you, thanks for participating in this discussion. :) I thought all these cleaning up and washing should be second nature to us, after all, there is water and soap available and they are there for our usage, not decoration. It seems strange that some are still ignoring it and go on doing what they like. Probably they have not suffered the after effects.

you are too nervous .just coz people could protect thmselves by the imuune system . just think about the ancient people ,and see what those people did .maybe you could adapt the situation.

That is a good idea, but probably the ancient people had been exposed to a lot more than we had.

Reminds me of a joke. A guy from Yale and a guy from Harvard are using the urinal, and the guy from Yale observes that the Harvard guy didn't wash his hands. He says to him, "at Yale we always wash our hands to prevent passing germs around." The Harvard guy replies, "at Harvard we don't pee on our hands." But yeah seriously, yuck...

hahaha, very funny.... well, regardless whether there's pee on our hands or not, we should still wash right? water is the minimum form of cleaning.

Hi Blue. Just make sure you never eat dinner at her house...LOL. I think it is pretty gross when people don't wash their hands after using the bathroom. I get sick to my stomach when I am at someone's house and they start cooking dinner and don't wash their hands before their prepare food. I don't care if I am just cooking for myself, I always wash my hands. I guess some people just don't have good hygenine.

LOL, I will take your advice! I wouldn't trust myself to eat the food prepared by someone who is unconcerned about hygiene, especially when they are preparing food for others. When we have a barbecue or some outdoor cooking, we can expect some dust flying around, that is acceptable, but more care should be taken when doing cooking in the house and toilets and food are NOT supposed to go together!

That is worse than just a minor flaw, if the person is working with others. I would tell about that to my superiors and have the office buy lysol or something similat to use everYwhere. Besides, I would ask about a speech abouth healthy habits at the office, no names said.

I don´t think it´s silly, bluemoon. You don´t have to say names. But the company should have enough safety measures so their employees are safe. I have seen safety measures even at fast food chains. At home, where I live alone, I use lysol besides the usual cleaners. There are lots of unseen "bad guys". So, when company comes, even though I always have some papers where they shouldn´t be, the kitchen and bathroom are CLEAN. And when I´m preparing food I wash my hands lots of times, as anyone should do.

Eateries should pay a lot of attention to hygiene as they are dealing with customers who will be eating the food prepared by them, hygiene should be of the highest priority. For offices, the norm would be, everyone is expected to know and be doing the things that are "common sense". For your parties, that is very much expected of a good host.

There have been a number of past occurrences. There was one lady whom I identified that always does that, thankfully she has left the company. Recently I observe a few similar incidents but am not sure whether it was the same person. It seems a silly complaint though.

This is a bit difficult to read! To realize that some people really go out of washrooms without washing their hands. Makes me want to let everybody know who these people are. I think they have the right to know if there is a chance they'd get germs from all the things this person touches afterwards. I know it's a bit cruel, but if this is what it takes to change their ways...

It is a good habit to wash hands after going to the toilet. We should form the good habit in daily life. After going to the toilet, there are many bacteriums on hands,so we should wash them with soap.Another,we should educate children also do this after going to the toilet.

Yes, that is indeed a good habit and good habits should be inculcated in children since they are young. Thank you.
