Is it okay to give the same passwords for all mail accounts

Hello everybody. I have many accounts on many websites. And I mostly give the same passwords for my mail accounts. Because I have problem of forgetting the passwords. So I always try to give the same passwords for many sites. but sometimes same passwords made many problems means when anybody hacks your accounts then also hacker can hacks your other accounts also because you have given the same passwords for other accounts. But this is the problem for those peoples who always make many accounts on different-2 sites and it is very difficult to give the different-2 passwords for each accounts. Because sometimes we can forget the passwords. So what do you think about this. it is good or bad when anybody gives the same passwords for their different-2 passwords for their mail accounts. Please share your views about this and give me some suggestion about this.

I will not share specific details, but through my experience. It is best to have a few different passwords. Say for example you are registering on 3 different sites. One site is Facebook - this site does not hold any information that is valuable to hackers. so a password you use for sites that do not have credit card information or other personal information like that would be used here. Another site is Bank Of America - this site is extremely valuable and contains highly personal information. For this site choose a different password than what you would use for Facebook, Myspace, Twitter, etc. This password should ONLY be used for this site. One last example is myLot - this site you may want a separate password for sites such as myLot, NeoBux, etc. these sites you do not want the same as your Facebook or Bank of America, but are still important for you to keep this information safe. All-in-all: depending on what the password is being used for. It is perfectly fine to use one password for all of your sites. But when it comes to keeping information such as Bank Account information, you're going to want to use a different password than the one you use to upload to your Grandmother's Blog :)

I don't think having same passwords for different accounts is good. I always have different passwords for every accounts that i sign up or registered with. You can keep it in your mobile phone, but do not make it as bold as it is. What i mean is,you can put ML for mylot and instead of writing password or ps ...just put a number sign # to determine it is your password. or you can simply write ML-(then your passord) So,even if you lost your mobile ,the person who can found it can not figure out what are those saved messages are. That's what i did, since i also can not memorize all the sites and password that i put in each sites.

Hi Anurag, I do not think it's good to have same passwords for all your internet accounts. It is best if you have few different passwords because accounts online can easily be hacked. try to use different password if you are using social networking sites like facebook. my previous fb account was penetrated by a hacker and it was really disappointing. after what happened, i decided to use different passwords in all my accounts and i made sure to use a strong pw.

for me i used the same passwords to some accounts. but if the account is really important like bank account, i will use the different password and made it difficult to guess. maybe you can have 2 or more passwords. that won't be difficult to remember.

i say that give different passwords so that all your accounts will be safe from hackers.the only thing i can suggest is that why not write down all the accounts you have together with their corresponding websites and passwords. that's all! but be sure that you write it on a very accessible thing. not on your phone. it could be on a small notebook.

I have one password for all of my accounts.I don't think there is anything wrong with using one password for all accounts.as long as the password is secure and no one knows about it,then it is much better to have one password.it helps when you only have one password to memorize for all of your accounts.

Using the same passwwords would certainly be easier for us to remember. It probably isnt the wisest choice we can make. So many things could be messed up by using the same passwords for everything.

for obvious reason we should not use the same password with different accounts, i think the problem here is how to remember different password on each accounts, right? well, here are my few tips...i used this so it helps me alot.. 7 Easy Tricks to Remember Numbers, Codes, Passwords 1) Create Associations We all have numbers that mean something to us: birthdays, anniversaries, a favorite NASCAR driver's number or the number of 10-cent wings you can devour on all-you-can-eat wings night. The secret to remembering new numbers is to find connections between the number you want to remember and the numeric memories that are already firmly lodged in your brain, says Scott Hagwood, who had to memorize 800 numbers in perfect sequence, among other tasks, to become the first American "Grandmaster of Memory." If you're having trouble coming up with an association for a number, try moving on to the next number, Hagwood says, since that may trigger a memory that you can use to link to the first number. For example, he says, "If I'm trying to remember 5817, but can't think of anything to associate with 58, I'll move to the number 17. As soon as I do, the song 'At 17' by Janis Ian comes to mind. As the music plays in my head, I imagine a now 58-year-old Janis Ian singing the song." 2)Break Long Numbers into Smaller Parts The average person can hold only about seven arbitrary units of information at a time in working memory. But by "chunking" or organizing the items in some way, you can greatly increase your recall capacity, says Thomas Crook, author of "The Memory Advantage." (This is why phone numbers are broken into groups of three digits.) Want to see how it works? Try memorizing this sequence: 7814921945. If you interpret it just as a string of 10 separate numbers, you'll have a hard time remembering it. But if you recognize two meaningful dates in the sequence, you have only three chunks to recall -- and remembering it is no problem. 3)Look for Patterns For longer numbers, look for relationships in the numbers. Do the first two add up to the third one? Do you see a sequence of odd or even numbers? Then use those patterns to create a story with the more arbitrary numbers. For example, if the number is 6700 0123, note the pattern "0123" and figure out how it can be remembered using 6700, Hagwood says. You could say something like, "Well, once I spend my credit limit of $6,700, I'll have to start over at zero and build it back up again one dollar at a time -- 1, 2, 3." 4)Learn Actively Our muscles have better memories than our brains, so don't just think the number, McCleary says. Say it out loud at least three times. "When you say it, your brain has to tell the muscles of your mouth how to say it and your ear has to hear the words and pass them along," McCleary says. "It forces you to use a lot more of your brain." And don't stop there. Try writing the number down a couple of times, or even singing it to a memorable tune. 5) Repeat It! Once you've memorized a number, set a timer and think of it (and the associations you've made with it) again one hour after you've learned it. Research shows that one hour after learning something is the time when the memory is most vulnerable to forgetting, misinterpreting or degrading the event in some way, Hagwood says. Repeat the number again after 24 hours, then again after one week and finally after a month. "The idea is to repeat the information just as you are about to forget it, in expanding increments of time, so it sticks in your long-term memory," Hagwood says. "Whatever is left after 30 days you'll probably be able to hold onto. 6)Visualize the Shape the Numbers Make on a Keypad A lot of people use this technique for phone numbers, but it's also useful for credit card numbers, PINs, ZIP codes and more, especially if you're a visual person, Dr. Crook says. It's particularly useful for numbers that form obvious patterns, like a straight line, an "X" or an "L." 7)Convert Numbers to Words or Images If you're ready for more advanced techniques, consider assigning the numbers 1 through 9 a letter equivalent: A=1, B=2, etc. So if your new PIN number is 2737, say, you'd convert it to the letters BGCG. Once you think of a sentence with those letters, such as "Bad Guys Can't Get," as in "bad guys can't get this number," you'll be able to recall it more easily.

Hi anurag! The good thing is it's easier to remember one or a few passwords. But if that password is hacked it may just lead the hackers to other sites you are a member of. It's often suggested that we should change our passwords regularly. Perhaps you would like to take that suggestion up. And it's also good to have an anti spyware or anti virus software strong enough to protect us.

In my opinion, all mail accounts use the same password are harmful to the safety of your mail accounts.Use the same password has an advantage. We can remember the password easily and almost don't forget it.So we should judge how tochoose between easy remember and safety.

well i have to be honest. i have a lot of the same passwords to my accounts. but for accounts like mylot, or my other survey sites. a couple email accounts, but thats it. those aren't that important. but bank accounts are. which i would advise to switch it up a bit. people are really evil these days and will take all that you have and won't feel bad about it. but they, it happens. and its not right. good luck with all. and you just gave me the thought to change a few passwords of myself!

Many of my different passwords are almost the same but some of them are pretty long with numbers and Capital Letters in them. That I have to record the different passwords down on a piece of paper for myself. I guess its okay to have the same password to everything as long as it doesn't fall into the wrong hands. Then you would have the problem of changing the passwords all over again. I keep all my passwords hidden from the people around me.

AS far as I am concerned, I think it will not be OK for us to have the same passwords for all the mails that we usually. It is not safe. When you are hacked, a lot of you account will be know by the hackers . So you must try you best to take care of your passwords with different ones in life. Only in that way, the other people may not get your passwords so easily. Have a nice day!

I do not think that it is safe to have the same password for all the Email accounts. It is as if hatching all the chickens in the same basket. Best thing to do is to have all the user-names and passwords in an Excel sheet. Mail that info to yourself and whenever you want to access your account open that sheet and refer.

I used to do have all the same passwords for all my accounts. This is just the most convenient and easiest way to do and remember all of them. Later on, I realized that this poses the greatest security risk. I haven't had anything major hacked, save for my yahoo messenger, but I was also alarmed of the 'what if'. So from then on, I started assigning a variety of passwords, which I keep listed down -- making sure the list is safe as well. Also, if you still want same passwords for everything, try changing it periodically, say monthly or quarterly...just as a safety net.

If you have a memory problem then I think that's the best solution for remembering all your accounts. However this might have some risks too because a hacker can easily access your account. That is the only danger I can think of.
