Catholic Nuns Practicing Boxing and Kicking as a Self-Defense??!!

Have you seen a Catholic nuns that practice kicking and boxing? I have seen them on television. I forgot the name of the program. It was said that the two nuns were practicing kicking and boxing inside the 'boxing ring'. This use as a self-defense for rapist, kidnapping and so on. One thing that come into my mind is Catholic nuns pray to God as a self-defense-- to protect them from harm and to protect them danger. They are 'holy' nuns which means they have to leave all the 'material things' here on earth and they should follow the footsteps of Jesus Christ. It means, they are different from the ordinary people. Why they need to practice boxing and kicking instead of praying to God huh? The roles of the nun is to pray and be holy in the eyes of God. I will accept the fact that they'll practice those things if they are just an ordinary people, but they are nuns. Does it mean, praying is not enough? (@_@)

Perhaps they prayed and before going into dangerous parts of the world, God told them to get in shape, etc...

Actually, too, your ideas are based on your own thoughts whereas the bible doesn't say anything about someone being so holy (filled with him)that danger cannot touch them, instead it says the world and the dark angels hate them and like Jesus many others would suffer also.. (especially towards the 'end'/collapse/apocalypse when christians get to be extremely unpopular, Israel too). It does say things like if you pray in Jesus' name you'll get what you prayed for, and if we believe our prayers we'll receive them (if we are in the faith and the faith is in us)..

I don't think there is anything wrong with nun practicing kick boxing.aside from the practical side of it being a work-out,it is also for self-defense.I don't think there is anything wrong with that.also,God didn't say that nuns and priests aren't allowed to learn self defense.I don't God has little understanding with His children.He will understand why these nuns study kick boxing.

I agree with you there. If Doctors, Media Men, NUrses, Dancers, and even Celebrities can trained in self defense, what more it is for the religious group. terrorist and kidnappers have no mercy and they're way of praying won't always do any good if they're gonna die any ways. they have a mission in this planet and they should fight for that mission with help of wisdom and faith from the Lord.

I have seen that before, that's way some of those nuns carry rulers and pointer sticks with them. I learned when I was younger never to mess with the nuns.
