In my town, i used to down the street at night. There, on the pavement along many shops, all homeless and the poor sleeping in the cold. I just question, how can their number never be decreased? Where is my major then, and all his programs about poverty eradication. Then I think the little solution to them. I ask my friend to donate money and buy them some food.
No, we don't need any praise, publication, prayer, or whatever. We just realize that the poor there are just our family member too. Waiting for help from local government, will take thousands year of light speed. Hopefully friends here and there can always do the best for them. Life, can be so very ruthless there!!!

It quite saddens me on a daily basis to see so many homeless and less fortunate people. It is also difficult to determine as to whether they chose to be there due to some form of bad habitual problem and or simply fate brought them there. Although sometimes I can determine by simply viewing a certain number of them, simply because of the area I see them in and the fact that they get upset if they are offered food instead of money.
This does not make me shy away from any of them, the first thought I get that could be me or one of my children as life just gets too hard. I lost my home this year and each day I count my blessings that I have a roof over my head, although it is hard sometimes I am grateful. I do not have much but I try to help when I can.

What a wonderful person you are, and so right you are. She does give so much, as there was a discussion the other day that women were on her show talking about how they are living in their cars with children as they have no money and Oprah did not help them out.
The show was about how people live, wow you are so right.. How sad that someone like her just needs to show off for the cameras and popularity and really not for the helping of people. Be well and God bless you
I see that you are also new to myLot so a very warm welcome to you.

I think life is a choice of whatever you want but if you don't do anything to change the kind of life you have then maybe the rest of your life is homeless. I was homeless before but I did my best to change the kind of life I have and I did it. Their number is not decreasing because these people felt so hopeless of their needs in order to move on for a change but I guess if they really strive to change they can do it..!

It's hard to help those people when they themselves are not doing something so they can move on. I am helping people that I really saw they are doing their best to improve their life. I am not saying too that I let my right hand know what my left hand is doing..!

poverty is an economic problem that has been existing for a very long time, and though our hearts go out on those homeless people. there is nothing we can do about them unless they dfo something about it themselves. some just tolerate them but they also needed to be taught to stand up and speak up...

I admit that I am one of those people who feel sorry for these kind of people but I haven't take any drastic measures to help them. Although I try to do my part to help other people to help themselves. I haven't got enough resources to help the other poorer people who have no way of earning income. I am referring to the old people on the streets and not those young women who use their children to ask for alms. I would love to help those people who can't help themselves if I had the resources but for now I would rather concentrate on helping others who want to help themselves.

The solution lies in not giving them bread but to teach them how to earn bread. If you just give them bread they would eat it only for a day, but if you teach them how to earn bread they would eat bread every day.

It's very easy to look at homeless people
and think that they got themselves where they are
and is their own fault.
I was almost homeless for awhile
and it was entirely my own doing.
Does that make it OK not to help someone who's made some bad choices?
I don't know what the solution would be
but all throughout history
there are those too wealthy to ever spend it all
and those with nothing.
Sadly most of us fall somewhere into the middle
able to see both sides
and easily confused by life's choices.
No one is to blame.
As long as there is money
there will be people without any.
