Make extra money and ways not to do it here.

I have been earning online for some years now, enough to pay for my vacations as my friends know. I post here, I trade sites, I click on PTC sites, I do traffic sites, you name it. I don´t get rich and I will never do it. But what it doesn´t pay at all is to spam people here asking inocent mylotters to be friends and then spamming them with a list of their wonderful sites that will make us rich. I know this can be called a rant but I´ve had it. Four new friends to approve today, all of which have a couple of posts in all. Who do you think they´re fooling? How could they know me so well and find me so nice as to want me to be their friends? Should we check and they report them? should we just not approve them? I wonder. We don´t want this kind of people here. It´s like when we have a nice party going at home and suddenly we have some uninvited people that are misbehaving in all the possible ways. At home I ask them to leave my home. What do we do here? Share friends!

If people spam me too much, I normally just ignore the messages but in the beginning, I do tell them I'm not interested in whatever they are spamming me with but I don't go nasty about it but if they keep at me, I just go to ignorning it.

I´m learning to do that, my friend. And if they don´t behave at all, I will just delete them.

I guess don't accept them as friends, or if this all happens afterwards of accepting them, thank take them off your friends list. Maybe they will see your discussion today and back off. That hasn't happend to me so I'm not so familiar with it. Good luck. I'm sure you'll work it out ok. Hey why don't you lean back, watch some tv, a comedy, and get something nice to drink. Then start all over again, or it will just keep building.

I respond to them with links to my blog on "how to get referrals". It's usually a short message explaining there is a better way. Trying to point people in the right direction is the least I feel I can do.

I appreciate your sentiments marguicha because I have been receiving friends’ requests like those and I have been deleting them. If I approve one and he or she starts to spam me I will delete them then too. I don’t mind one of my good friends sending me a PM every now and again advising me of a new site they found etc. but when a member’s sole purpose here is to obtain referrals, it really annoys me too!

That´s what I mean, paula. In fact, a friend might want to give you a good advice or trade with you. But that´s completly different from the others. I know who my friends are here. And I´m sure I´m not as nice as to be loved at first sight by someone with only one post.

Funny. I *just* joined myLot to check it out and see if it's worth my time and if I could connect with anyone. Not even four minutes after I joined, I had a friend request! Seriously!? I really have no idea how things work through here, but it would be nice if it turned out to be a fun online community. :-)

Mylot is a great place. Takes a little while to get used to, but give it a chance. There is a reason it's been around for so long and paying it's members.

I've had the same thing marguicha. I had been always polite to accept friends request because I always think maybe they are eager to make more post and want as much people to notice their new discussion you know, and me,I'm always willing to participate on my friend's discussion if they interests me. But once I accepted their friend requests, I start getting a bunch of messages saying this site and that site will make me this dollars for that week, whatsoever. I never thought of using this site to gain referral because I'm not good in promoting at all, but simply because I wanna make money for however much time I can spend here and share my thought with other members too. But I also don't mind to help other members if they just politely ask around the forum. Have a nice day

I have traded sites with friends here, but spamming is something different. There are ways to talk, ways to get in contact. And above all, I think it´s not fair to expect something giving nothing in exchange. That´s why trading sites is a good way for me. But I don´t spamm my friends with links if they are not interested.

This is an interesting post as I have no knowledge of creating spam and am wondering they do this. I have recieved a lot of spam mails in my mail and I have this problem of deleting them and I got too tired. Spam letters do not seem to stop coming my way. Can someone tell us how to stop it or also tell how people create spam.

I don't really pay much attention to a new member that doesn't respond to one of my threads or comments. If they aren't very active in the forums, then they are here for one thing...spamming the members hoping to pick up a referral. Trade referral links with them, and you'll find they either do nothing at all or make a small effort at the very beginning, and then stop. I share links, send friend requests and links to sites to my myLot friends that post in the "making money" type forums. Some links are referral links where I will benefit from their efforts. If the member is interested in a site which offers no referral benefits, I will send those links also. Isn't that how someone should treat their "friends"? I love trading links with my friends at myLot, and I have joined as many sites with their referral links as they have joined with mine. If I really like the site, I continue on with it, even if they have stopped using the site I shared with them (and I only share sites that have been proven to be 100% legit, and pay on a consistent basis) I've joined sites with my myLot friends that turned out to be scam sites, sites that are quite questionable and sites where the verdict is still out on their legitimacy...and the members with a small amount of myLot posts are the members that give up working the legit sites, yet have no problem spamming me every other week with another questionable site, asking me to join under them (the nerve!!) I ignore requests from new members unless they have responded to a thread that I've started and/or responded intelligently to one of my comments. I'm tired of sharing a link with someone that makes zero effort on my site, yet expects me to be an active member on theirs. Great thread! It is one that newer members need to read because many (but not all) are using this forum to promote their "business" and offering very little to the site.

If it were me, I just wouldn't approve them. It might be a good idea to report them, too. If they are in your friends list, which I doubt any of them are from your discussion here, I would just delete them as friends. I deleted a friend on here not too long ago because I got sick of the language she was using. I didn't mean to get off the subject but I just thought I would let you know that I deleted her. I've been wanting to ask you this for quite sometime. I remember you said one time that you made $100 a month on mylot. What all do you do on here to make this much? The reason why I'm asking is because I would like to be able to make this much on here, myself.

As far as I am concerned, I have been here for a long time and make just some extra money here. Honestly speaking here. the first though that I am coming here just for making money ehre. But with so long time online, I have been getting used to stay in mylot to talk with my friends to share the ideas with my friends, a lot will be done here. I enjoy the happy life and relax life here.

hello marguicha! what attracted me to mylot is the sharing of ideas, being able to write what i think of a posts and the joy it gives me when my response is chosen as best. I stayed on until now because i enjoy it here and the earning feature is just a secondary reason to me. I've been here for almost 4 months now and i have requested friends and have accepted several, with the intent of just having online friends here although i have not really gone to a point of personally knowing anyone here. Some have already pm me their links but i have not send any link actually to anyone here. it's really sad when people just add you as their friend for the sole intent of spamming you with their links. I don't like that either that's why i don't do that. maybe when i will get to know of a site that's 100% legit and is really paying, i would share the info with some interested friends. i'd say interested because there are people who just don't like referrals and that would just be somehow intruding on their rights and privacy if you keep on sending them links they are not interested in. in your case, i would say, tell those who had been spamming you to stop it. That's the only way to do it because if you will not tell them, it's as if you are tolerating what they're doing to you. Tell them you are not interested in their links and to please stop sending you anymore because it has populated your inbox, lol.

Hi Derie, Who have come here for the right reasons and as such you will get as much pleasure as I get. Fortunatly mylot has a way that we can use to delete those unwanted friends from our friends list. But it´s still annoying, specially since it seems that they come by waves. In this moment I have 4 friends to approve (besides that ones I have aproved with happyness)because they haven´t posted a thing in weeks. I have tried to check their profiles but I get nothing from them. So there they will be for a time at my personal limbo.

What I meant was that some people promote other sites and send links if you accept them as friends. I do trade sites but it has to be by common acceptance. Otherwise it is spamming.

Hey Marguicha :) I too get a few requests everyday, but I did not experience anybody spamming me with their links unless I have asked them for it :D. I never hesitated to add somebody even if he was new or old :). Yes I do visit their profile to find out something about them before adding. I try to find out what kind of threads they start and what kind of interests they have, I can understand these things from the way they use mylot to answer discussions and start threads :). But I must admit I have no complaint whatsoever with anybody whom I have added uptil now. There are a few 2-3 people though who have been a little mean asking for sites and then removing referral links :D, but I can't help it after all and it does feel bad when people do such things asking for help and then removing your referral links :D. A person in my friend list is so obsessed with earning money that he only starts threads on the same topic with different headings which tell everyone to visit his blog :D:D. But he did never spam me with messages fortunately or else I would have kicked him out :P. Anyways its always better to check out people before adding them and I do it that way :)

It´s a good idea to check at the profile before adding a friend. Many times I forget to do it but you have given me a good idea. Thank you!
