What? Mr. Bruce Lee comes up with these things and I like them. This one makes me think a lot for it's meaning. I love solving riddles, puzzles, and problems. What do you think it means? Does it make sense to you? It's quite complex of a thought but maybe the meaning is so simple. I think what he is saying here is work smart not hard.

I agree with your definition. I think that is what he meant but I disagree with thr statement. To make Anything happen there Has to be effort. I really don't understand . How can you be powerful Without effort!

The quote is actually missing some parts to it. The example that he gave was the bamboo, it survives strong wind by bending unlike the hard, stiff kind of trees, that easily breaks. He said something like that. I think the effort he means is the effort to go against something like the wind but it is still unclear to how this would make me faster and stronger.

Now it makes sense! Then he means the less time you try to force something, the less effort you use to go against nature , the easier your work will be? I can understand! Not only do I understand I totally agree.Self knowledge is a powerful thing. So You can make your life So much easier if you follow your bliss, follow your heart , than try to be what Others want you to be. Thanks. Now that's makes sense!

Although he uses his martial arts training and philosophies to life issues, most of these types of Bruce Lee quotes refer to physical training and body movement. The bamboo moves with the wind, not against it, which actually gives it the power to stand strong. If it forced against the wind, it would eventually break. The bamboo is certainly a life lesson as well. Less effort - for instance, in martial arts, or combat training in general, being more relaxed will actually aid a person in being faster and more powerful. Being tensed up throughout your body slows a person down and limits movement. Being relaxed allows a person to focus physical energy where energy needs to be, such as in a particular movement performing a task...martial arts, or anything...dance, painting, swinging a hammer, etc. People tend to try too hard and put effort and energy in areas not related to the task at hand. Bruce Lee was a believer in using less force and creating a flow. Cut out all the side junk and focus on the task that needs your attention (which does take less effort), than you can move with more speed and power. I hope that all makes sense.
