When we moved to a new county, over 20 years ago, I did not get a library card--I just bought books I wanted to read. But now we are raising 2 grandsons and we all have library cards. I had forgotten the joys of browsing the shelves and borrowing the books that interest me. And the boys love the opportunities that the local branch gives to participate in fun activities.
Do you have a library card?

I went for a long time without a library card. But when I moved to Chicago it was one of the first things I acquired! Then when my son had his accident and we finally got settled here in Oklahoma I sought out the library. I got a library card here just a few weeks ago. I actually plan on heading that way tomorrow!

Yes, I have a library card. I've had it since I was around 8 I think. It works at all the libraries in my district, and there are around 4 or 5. I haven't been to them all... I've only been to two. One because it's the closest and the other one because it has a better selection. They can share books and ship between them, but I prefer to drive the extra five minutes to get my books rather than request they ship the books to my close library.
I've lived in the same area pretty much my whole life so I haven't needed to get a new card. When I move away from here, the second thing I'll check in my new area is whether or not they have a good library nearby. (The first being whether or not they have a good bookstore nearby!)

Yes, I do have a library card and really enjoy going to the library. I sometimes feel like a kid in a candy shop - I cannot have all I want! There are so many books I would enjoy reading, but so little time to actually read them.
Most of the people in my family enjoy reading, but everyone had different tastes.
Our library now has self checkout. Scan your card, scan your books or cds and away you go! Nice. In addition, I can go online and check my library account. This makes it really easy to keep up with due dates, and even renew.
