Crime around the Holidays

It's been a really bad last couple of weekends here in Vegas. The closer it gets to the Holidays the more people get robbed and killed. 2 weeks ago a gang of people went on a robbing spree and robbed 4 people throuout the Night killing a school teacher on his way to work. A Lady i ride the bus with got mugged on her way to the bus stop and her purse was stolen and she was beaten. This weekend 3 people got killed from robberies and a security guard at one of the local casinos got stabbed and had the money stolen. They even had a guy robbing people in the restrooms of another local casino killing one person. Every year around the Holidays crime rises, instead of people getting together for the Holidays....Families are getting torn apart. Is crime getting worse around the Holidays where you live?

So now you arent even safe at the hospital. Makes you wonder what the hell is going on with people lately???

You are absolutely correct, people are desperate and in need, they find themselves without a job no money, so unfortunately they find themselves committing crimes.

hello missy. i agree that as holidays get near more crimes happened. last saturday, my friend had a bad experience. she was at their store and noticed a man sitting on the chair. minutes passed by, another man came and they talked. one man was staring at her. but, she doesn't mind it. twenty minutes after, she went near in the counter. the men was sharing conversation while the other man was staring at her differently. they were also staring at her employees. my friend suspected that they had a bad plan. good thing that my friend was calm and planned for action. so, they didn't succeed. we should be aware in our surroundings every now and then.

I try to always pay attention to what's going on around me. Doesn't matter if I'm on the bus, the store or at work, I constantly look to see whats going on.

hello missy. thanks for the response. that's the least thing we can do - paying attention to our surroundings. take care.

Hi Missy, I couldn't agree more. Crime rates are increased during the holiday season. Thieves/Robbers are desperate to steal money from people who have been working really hard to provide the needs of their families. it's really annoying! there should be a grave punishment for people who steal/rob. be careful in your holiday shopping! don't bring plenty of cash.. it's better to use your debit or credit card when shopping.. and yes, don't wear expensive jewelries that can attract the bad guys! take care!

I think I will even leave my purse at home when I leave for work and just take my keys and my badge and put it in my pocket. It attracts more robbers just by having a purse I think.

Crime has been steadily rising here for the last couple of years. I contibute alot of it to the economy but your right that there is a rise in crime during the holidays too. Criminals know that there are more people out with more money in them. It's a shame.

It's pretty bad, my co-worker had her car broken in twice last year around the holidays and had lots of Christmas gifts stolen. That was mostly her fault for leaving it in the car for others to see, still no reason to bust her windows.

I know exactly what you mean, so far this year the crime activity hasn't begun, they usually start evolving around or after Thanksgiving. But last year was horrible, it seemed like every night the news were reporting of a new crime that occurred due to robbery, assault with a deadly weapon and even attempted murder to murder. And the funny part is that this year they are expecting the crime rate to be higher than last year. I already told my husband I am doing my shopping early this holiday season and if we have to go to the stores make sure we go during the day and avoid going to the stores at night. I rather be safe than sorry...

Me too. In the summertime when it gets light early I do my grocery shopping at 5am, now I have to wait till about 7am. A couple times I had my boyfriend walk me to the bus stop but then I worry about him walking back

When the Christmas holiday is near, there are really lots of robbing, pickpocketing and stealing incidents. People are in most need of money during this season. It is just sad if these people kill other people just to get money.

There's a lot of pick pocketing going on here too, especially on the buses.

true, there are more crimes, more thieves during the holidays. a friend of mine has lost her cellphone in the train, my vehicle is parked outside our house and i lost the car battery. a lot of carrier got robbed. some hired already a security guard for protection. at the streets at night there are more cases of robberies and stick up inside the bus. so if we can stay at home the better. if we go out much better if we can go home as early as possible.

it does seem like crime all over the country increases with the coming of the holidays. i think people can become more desperate at these times of the year.
