Hello LOtters,
Since my mom had become socially active with organizations, I've been receiving calls from her co-members of different organizations. most specially if there's a scheduled meeting or an event that has to do with that fellowship. well, when ever she's not around, i would asked them to leave a message, probably for my mom to let know of later.
Unfortunately, i failed again for the second time. she has an appointment today and i only remember when our neighbour called again today.
It's either I am becoming that forgetfull due to the sadness that has consumed most of my life or simply my imagination is keeping me busy from being sad
but for now, am happy with it. i can't do this again.
Have a great day

Honey it happens to the best of us so do not be so hard on yourself. Maybe put a notepad and pen right next to the phone so that when a call comes in with a message you can get in the habit of writing it down. Then in turn you mom can view the pad as surely this must throw her for a loop sometimes.

Hello hardworkinggurl,
I know she was upset but she got used to me being forgetful. of course, i had to be since it's one of the most important of her appointments. i am gonna put that note in her door so that she can see. probably i should get used to writing stuff again in the ballpen
. otherwise, my hands gonna shake. thanks

Hehe friend Letran, why alow sadness to consume most of your life? Right do things to keep you busy in order to avoid sadness and not to be forgetful. Me too, am forgetful now but quite justified as am quite older, I can't remember immediately names or even things I would like to say. When am talking to someone, I have to think first what I have to say next. My daughter told me in one instance, "mom, you're no longer, smart, in talking with others... I said yah I observed too.

Hello bing,
No, i don't but it comes to me most of the time. i guess things changed and i wasn't even aware of it tough. i am thankful though that despite of this feeling i get the chance to back it out when ever there is something new comes along. it's hard to forget things that i shouldn't be remembering. probably i should get a job to make myself more busy. thanks

I read some replies here and I agree with writing notes about what is going on. My husband has always been forgetful and so he always carries a notepad and pen to write down important info..

I am also very forgetful at times, maybe you can take down notes from your mom's appointment
so that you have something to remind for your mom when she got home (hehe sound like a personal secretary for your mom eh?hehe
) or remind your self through a cellphone reminder for those call, I bet your mom too is too preoccupied of things and forget some of her schedules. Anyway, reminding through notes and cp works for me, maybe it can work for you too. Why won't you give it a try ?

hello torchablazed,
yes, i did but it was that second day where i remembered it. she doesn't look at the notes too often. probably next time i would just put it in her door. am sure if she goes to her door, she will be reminded of something. well, her being old is really obvious but that's fine with me as long as i don't do this again

Don't worry because we all can be forgetful at times. It gets worse the older you get, too, I hate to say, lol
! I think the best thing to do is like hardworkinggurl suggested. Have a notepad and pen next to your phone and when a call comes in for your mother, you can write it down.

Hello Cyrus,
That's what I am afraid of, usually it happens in the forty's and fifty's but i am only in my twenty's. what could be worse if I reached the golden age. well, i did have a notepad close to the phone. but it was only the persons call that i got to remember it
have a great day

I also have short term memory and this is because of my asthma medication. I hate it when I have to say or do something at work and I have to double check everything because nothing really sticks. I guess it also goes with age

Yeah,
it's really sad and not to mention were only in our twenty's. for petes sake i don't even smoke and i rarely drinks stuff. that's what i am worried about, if i am like this what more if i get older. some how i feel afraid of getting old, but it's just the times i think. maybe someday it will worked out for me.

I would write down all messages as soon as they arrive because remembering phone messages is near impossible for most of us especially if there are a few so I would not feel bad. I’ve been quite forgetful too but I’ve been putting it down to aging! Sometimes tiredness does not help the memory. I am sorry you’ve been feeling sad LetranKnight, I hope something puts a smile on your face again soon…

Hello Paula
,
Probably we should buy a new Answering Machine, we do have one here but it's not good in recording calls. i wish i could use my full memory capacity and all talents too. it's hard when you are only good at remember certain things. well, what put me to smile for a moment was when i got a new idea.

hello Letran,
That's normal when our mind is occupied with many things.
Sadness can one cause for that or when we are emotionally occupied, that we can't really absorb other things that are happening in around us.
I hope you can totally get through with your sadness and whatever bothers you dear brother.
Have a good day always

Hello Sis
,
It's not new to me not be able to absorb everything. but what frustrate me the most is that there are things that i immediately absorb and then i remember it for a long time. i wonder what are the steps to remember stuff. because i only remember some of the good things or probably things that made me wonder
have a nice day

Sad most of your life time, ei, Knight? How could that be?
Every once in a while I tend to forget about things, too, especially when I got my hands full.:)How I hate it when I forget there's something cooking ...Good thing I haven't burned anything yet.:(
It must be the age , perhaps, Knight.
or it could also be a case of selective memory loss wherein the brain prefers to forget a certain informnation or details... Well, your concern is not really alarming though. There could be a lot of mental exercises that will help the brain functions as sharp as it should be like Soduko or crossword puzzles or bridge. Even reading helps.:)
As for your current concern, why don't you just jot down the messages you took for your Mum and place it somewhere she can see easily see it like her dressing table perhaps.
just think of happy thoughts, dear. :)

Hello Eureka,
Unfortunately, i dont' have time for any of that. i couldn't even mylot for the next six hours because of my freaking house choirs.
now a days, my eyes gets tired so often that i couldn't comment on all responses in a day. well, i don't want to consider much that forgetting is normal because one day i might forget one of the biggest thing in my life.
and i don't even know what that is.@eurekafemme (5874)

You're not alone, I am also forgetful at times that it becomes funny, sometimes downright embarrassing. I sometimes pop into a meeting a day late or a day early, confused why I do not know the people in the room! My favorite is when I joined a teleconference a day late. It was only midway thru the conference when I realized that they were talking about an entirely different project. The people I was talking to were too polite to ask why I was there. We ended up laughing about the entire fiasco.

Hello tincabzh,
IF theres one thing i can't afford to forget, is the keys to the house. it would be an awful situation if i get the change not to open the house. the guard who once opened it isn't always around. sometimes, we have to be careful with everything that we do. i had share of lost items, only to be found later

I hate it too. That is why i always have a small notepad with me so that when someone talk to me or advice me even at home or work I write that one on my notepad. The problem is i have to remember to scribble my notepad every day, if i forget then I forget all of the things i have to do. Shameful on my part. If you want whenever there is someone called for your mother, jot it down and leave the notepad beside the phone so that every time there is a call you will see the notepad. You will read the notes on the pad once your mother is around.

Haha! that is better than my case. When I was still a teen, I fried an egg one morning. Suddenly the phone rang and it was my friend on the phone. It was weekend so we had a free day from school. I started chatting and chatting with her, laughing, joking and all until I started smelling a burnt smell. When I looked at the kitchen, a smoke was all over and it started spreading to the living room too. I had to run back to the kitchen and turned the fire off. My fried egg was all black and burnt. I learnt from that day because imagine if the phone was at the second floor that time. It could've been worst. I learnt to put my mobile phone in my pocket everytime I do cooking. I really hate it being forgetful because it can brings me a danger sometimes.
