How do you deal with touchy situations?

I used to take dope for a period of 8yrs and I must say that it was the best 8 yrs of my life in a way. I dont deal well with people. Its not that Im shy but Its like I dont know how to defend myself when attacked verbally. My first reaction is to raise my voice and cuss like a truck driver lol. Or I'll just leave and then I'll be fuming and feeling really bad and THEN its like I know exactly what I should have said but its too late by then. Lately Ive gone back to taking some medication to calm me. I like not "feeling" anything thats around me. Its as if Im in my own bubble and dont give a hoot about whats going on. Its easier for me that way. SO how do you deal with touchy situations? Do you also take pills or .......what do you do??

Is that how you got your name "MagicalBubbles"....LOL Sorry, just teasing! I have learned over the years to be confrontational. Not in a bad way, but if someone is saying something about me, or I hear crap behind my back....I will confront that person. I used to be shy and avoid sticky situations, but not anymore. I try to stay calm and polite about it, but sometimes the situation doesn't often lend itself to keeping me calm. I used to take antidepressiants for a while, however, they never seemed to help me, I just learned to deal with situations on my own. It doesn't always work out the way I want it to, but than again, that is life.

You're right about the name "MagicalBubbles" lol. I guess you're right, live isnt easy and we need to learn to deal with it. I thought anti-D was the answer but obviously its now. Thats not what Im taking by the way. Im taking Ativan and it does calm me down when I have to face people, but I know its not the right way to go. Thanks for sharing!!

I know antidepressants work for some people, but they never worked for me. I have friends that take them religiously, but I keep crying while I was on them, so I figured, forget it!! When people meet me they always they I am so outgoing and friendly all the time, which really inside I am going crazy. I don't like to be around a bunch of people I don't know. As long as Ativan is working for you, I would stay on them. I wish I could find something better for me, but I have tried several different ones, and they always have the same effect. Oh, and I knew I was right about the name...LOL I am sorry, I am a joker, and it is a terribly warped sense of humor. I probably need to stop it here in MyLot, because I think too many people think I am a bit*h and really I am not, I am always just joking around. Thanks for the best response by the way!! Have a great day. I am going to try to play catch up here on MyLot...I am so behind.

Perhaps many people feel the same way as you. It seems different people will have different ways to deal with it. Personally, I consider a change of environment. In this approach it seems one can change environment by going to another country (for a while) for work or leisure ... What do you think ?

As far as touchy situations go I do raise my voice but I seem to know what to say when the time comes. And I'm also pretty well mad for the rest of the day regardless. I don't take pills to mellow me out simply because I'm usually pretty well laid back to begin with so if I were to take anything I'd be like i don't know unconcious lol. But seriously just chill out a little and you'll be fine.
