There are a lot of ways I can do to help boost my mood: listen to my favorite songs, listen to a particular song over and over again, read the bible - favorite passages or verses, pray, watch happy movies, OD on chocolates (unhealthy, I know, but sometimes I coudn't help it), take a long walk, mall 'til I drop, clean my room, do the laundry (!?)...and many more!

Other then prayer it sounds like keeping busy is a good way for you to lift your moods. I use to hate it when I was younger and people would say get out and do something or start doing something and your mood will change. Oh I would get mad and think they didn't understand but I guess they did because through the years I have changed a lot and I do find that if I force myself to do some house work even if I dont' feel like it, it helps big time.

Sounds like we just resolved that being busy might be the best way for anyone to boost their mood to being positive.

Oh, I didn't even notice that. I just typed what popped into my mind. I guess it helps for me to be busy, because when I'm in one of those moods, my mind makes the situation worse by thinking worse thoughts. It's those moments that I'm most vulnerable, after all. So I guess, it's a defense mechanism for me to get busy. I don't really know how house works does wonders for us. I remember I had a boss, who would clean the ENTIRE office when she was in one of those moods. We were happy that way, because she never raised her voice on us. And, we had a super sparkling office.

I just take some time to do something I want to do as opposed to doing something I have to do. I can go for a walk. I can listen to some music. I can call a friend. I can read a bit of the Bible. I can do some exercise. I can play my guitar, even if I can;t play for beans. I could watch a comedy. Before long I'm back up again!

True and all these things work! I am now thinking after starting this conversation that maybe some people don't do these things and that is why they are always depressed. I know when I was younger and depressed I sat in my depression and couldn't see how by doing anything it was fix my low moods. But one day realized yes by doing things I wasn't feeling down. So I have learnt to get up and function.

My best defense when I am down in the dumps is to take a nap. It works everytime. I can fall asleep for a short time and feel like a totally different person when I wake up. If I am away from home, something sweet helps. Drink a cold soda or eat a candybar and I am back in the game! Rarely am I in a bad mood so I am lucky in that respect.

Television is my best sleeping pill. This works well if there is something on tv I really want to watch...lol I would suggest letting your body go to sleep when it wants to and wake up when you want to and not set an alarm. It might be 15 minutes or an hour. Focus on the te program and nothing else. I mean it works great for me but not everyone is like me!

Alrighty then now we are talken. I would love to eat a chocolate bar and feel like I am back in the game. Nope, I might be smiling while eating that chocolate bar but in just a few short minutes I feel terrible in my body from the sugar and it makes me feel sleepy. But now taking a nap without the chocolate bar just might do it. I am going to give that a try in a few minutes. I will let you know how it turns out. Mind you there is a difference today, I am not really down. At least I don't think so; but I am tired, really tried and just want to do nothing but hide in my house and sleep. But I will set alarm to sleep no more then an hour and see what happens.

I tend to reach for the junk food , as a matter of fact and likely to my shame I have been down this evening. Not feeling like cooking a decent supper for myself I have been eating oatmeal-chocolate chip cookies and drinking milk. That is slightly better than drinking a can of coke with chocolate bars and or my favorite _ Lays barbeque chips. It never really lifts my mood, it just kind of drowns my sorrows :-) Sometimes good music helps and I often go visit a good friend .

We sound so much a like. However my healthy coffee as helped a lot but also I am learning to not sit in the bad or low mood swings as well. It has been hard but lately find it easier. I know the coffee helps the depression but I still have to motivate myself to move my body. I hate exercise so I have not got there but I do more house work on a regular bases and do some crafts like knitting.

Sometimes our moods just need an extra boost. Listening to my favorite music is one way that I boost my mood. It works for me every time.

Music does work for me sometimes but not all the time. I guess it depends on how down I am. I will pay closer attention next time to see if this is true for me. Maybe music does help every time no matter how low my mood is.

Hi, good question. Over the years i have used different strategies to boost my mood. Now i call family members especially my grand daughter. I find that she is always glad to hear from me and always has something to say that gives me a boost in the area of happiness.

Ah that is so nice to have people in our lives that lift our spirits. We should all be so blessed. I always wonder about people who don't.

Here you are again. I love what you say and yes it reminds me that I am always happier when I pray to start my day and to end my day with God in prayer. Thank you for reminding me of that.

Thanks for that wonderful question,my co-my lotters.I think of the happiest moment in my life or better than that i will choose to eat what i want to eat so that it can help for me to boost my mood. I am a moody person perhaps i can not tolerate it because it can not help for me to do my daily routines. The best way to boost the my moody feeling is that take a deep breath and think positive.Be optimistic and have fun, enjoy your life with God.

I think of a happy memory, happiness is a state of mind so if you force yourself to thing happy your down mood will vanish or will be lessen. If not I walk outside and listen to bird chirping

I boost my mood by playing my favorite ps3 game. Yes it really makes me feel good. But my best mood booster is food, especially if it's prepared/cooked by my girlfriend. She's really a great cook. The aroma of everything she cooks lift up my mood. Really, scents/aroma can really affect our mood.

I have heard about the mood scents. I am not so sure they would work for me. Now food is a different thing. Of course food puts a smile on my face but for me it is not the best choice as my joy is short lived when inspired by food. You can imagine why?

I boost my mood by drinking coffee or eating chocolates. They make my day happy and complete. I listen to music too so that I can't hear what people are talking about. I also read jokes from Reader's Digest. Laughter really is a medicine, but it's not the best. I always talk to my friends because they make me feel happy. I also write here in mylot. Writing is one way to let all angry feelings go away.

Coffee is the first thing I do to boost my mood as well. I do love music but I haven't used it as a mood lifted for a long time; just for enjoyment. Now that I think about it I did use music a lot when I was younger. The main thing I do to get out of my blah mood after drinking my coffee to jump start me is to get busy. If I sit on my computer to long it doesn't help but if I just discipline myself to get off within the hour and then start house work I feel so much better in a short time. Have you thought about reading self help books on angry emotions?

When I am in down mood, the first thing I would do is 1.splash my face with cold water and dry off that makes me feel get rid of depression or down mood any name that goes. 2.Try to reason out the cause for my down mood. 3.check what are the best options and solutions. 4.Act accordingly. 5.If the problem or root cause for down mood is irreapir able then better accept it with a smile. Generally I come out within 10-15 minutes at the most. Hope this answer helps
