Recently our company improved the medical insurance plan at our office to give us a group coverage good enough to meet the medical requirements here in India. Apart from the immediate family, dependent parents can also be made a part of this scheme. Do you have medical insurance at work? If so how is the scheme? Cheers! Ram

My workplace don't have medical insurance but in the uk we have the nhs anyway so we don't need to pay for medical appointments and illnesses. They do pay 6 month of pay if i become ill and unable to work for longer than a few weeks though. I know in some countries you can get medical insurance that covers your immediate family though, just like if i went abroad on holiday with my family.

Is this NHS a government sponsored scheme? Cheers! Ram

It's owned by the government, so yes. There's many national hospitals, more so than private one's which is good that our country cares about providing free support to ill people.

That's good. I think currently a similar debate is going on in US. Cheers! Ram

It's good your company pays medical insurance for you and family. There are some scheme that allows you to continue to pay the premiums on your own if you leave the company. In this way, you can still continue the coverage should you decide to quit one day. Hope yours is such.

Unfortunately, the current company scheme does not have that facility. But we have now given this suggestion to the management. Let's see if they listen to us... Cheers! Ram
