Party or no party?

My daughter will be turning 1 very soon and im a big stuck on what to do. Shall i throw a big party in a hall with plenty of family and friends and other kids? Have a party at home with family friends and kids? Or just invited a few relatives and keep it small? Im thinking of decorating no matter what, im just thinking what my daughter would think of a party, what did you do for your childs first birthday?

In my opinion although their first birthday is a very special day, the child will have fun however you celebrate it with them. Just having family around at home with few friends would be nice because then she won't get too overwhelmed with it all. For my 2 kids first birthday we just had family around at home and had a few bits of snack food for everyone to enjoy.. my kids had lots of fun with that. I put some balloons up which they loved.

In my opinion, the child's first birthday is usually more for the family than for the kid because they are not going to remember it. They might look through old pictures when they are older and hear stories, but they usually don't have any memories of it. So I guess my suggestion would be to do whatever you want to do. My cousin threw her daughter a big party for her first birthday with lots of family and friends and their kids. It was a big thing and she was happy because that's what she wanted to give to her daughter. My aunt and uncle, though, decided to have a small little party at home with a few family members over for their daughter's first birthday. It was a nice event, very cozy. Going either way, you can't go wrong as long as you and your daughter have fun.
