Older Teenagers Trick Or Treating=^..^=!

How many of you, while passing out candy to the little trick or treaters, had more than a few older teenagers come to the door expecting candy? I think that is so incredibly selfish! I know that other people go ahead and give candy to these teenagers, but, I feel that this is a time for the small children and none of the candy should be given to these older ones. The first year I encountered this I looked at their faces and said to them, "You've got to be kidding me!?" Then I proceeded to tell them that the candy is for the children and that they had their time when they were little. Most would walk away a bit disgruntled calling me names. A precious few would look at me as if to threaten or intimidate me. I just ignored them, but, I made sure I kept my eye out for any fall out from the incident in case I had to call the police. Teenagers nowadays are very confrontational. Much less respectful then when I was a teenager and when I was young it was bad enough! Purrs, Catwoman=^..^= & Mija

Who are you to say how old is to old for trick or treating? Some might say you are to old to be putting "Purrs, Catwoman=^..^= & Mija" at the end of your posting. Just give them the candy and go back to watching tv or whatever you were doing.

I'm not angry at all. I'm sorry you're a stick in the mud.

I think everyone should get candy that stops by asking for it. There should be no limit on the age of who should be stopping by to get candy and dressing up.

I see what you're saying, but, at the same time I had nothing but negative experiences with that kind of thing. Thanks for responding, trisha! Purrs, Catwoman=^..^= & Mija

I give candy to everyone! I even have some dog biscuits for the four-legged beggars. I figure if the teens are out begging, they are retaining some of the joy of childhood and I want to encourage that. They are also staying out of trouble. I have a reputation in my neighborhood as a good house to beg at and they all know that any age or type of beggar will get a treat! I don't know if this has anything to do with it but there is never wrappers thrown in my yard or kids loitering in front of my house. My garage is never written on and all the teens greet me if they see me on the porch during the year. They know I like them all.

That's another way to look at it! Great attitude, girlfriend. I also love it when you say you have doggie treats for the four legged trick or treaters! I know they appreciate that! I don't know. I just had negative experiences with that, myself. Thanks for responding, dragon! Purrs, Catwoman=^..^= & Mija
