Will tying our dogs make them behave?

Our puppies are hyperactive and we decided to leash them. They keep on crying and barking and their screechy noise is painful to the ears. Will it help develop their obedience? For how long will they behave? Is this the right age for them to be disciplined? They are 3 months by the way.

I know some people are going to get me for this, but many EXPERTS do agree that crating a dog is not bad and in fact good since they have their own little place to get away from it all. I have 2 beagle/border collie puppies who will be a year old next month and from the beginning, they have loved their crate which is more for a a large dog, but with 2 medium puppies, it's perfect. A crate should be not too big, but big enough for the dog to stand and turn around. Crating is excellent for housebreaking and protecting the dog and your house if you have to leave. If your puppies are overly active, (You didn't mention what breed, some need more exercise than others) then give them an opportunity to play and wear themselves out. Or if they are working dogs, teach them some tricks or something for them to do. One more thought on crating that is VERY IMPORTANT!! NEVER use the crate as a punishment, only to protect your house when you are away. Soon, you will see, like my puppies, that they will go into the crate on their own to rest, like it is their own place, and no one else's..

My neighbor does that too. His dogs are so behave. That's why we decided to leash our puppies. They are hyperactive if we are around. They are mongrels. Thanks for sharing. We'll think about crating too.

No, absolutely not! Only teaching them will make them behave. Read about training a dog online or in books, and be very patient with them. This is the only way to get your dogs to behave well, otherwise they will just get violent and hard to control. So please learn about animal psychology instead!

My father leashed them. They are still young and likes to explore. I can't say no to his decisions. My puppies are so poor. They keep on crying. They are hard to control right now. It's so noisy!
