Newcastle thrashed Sunderland 5-1 in their derby match with skipper Kevin Nolan leading from the front with a hat trick. Shola Ameobi also scored a brace to make it a real one sided match in the end. Darren Bent scored the consolation goal for Sunderland. With this win Newcastle go 7th on the table!! Pretty good going for a side that has just come up from the Championship. Cheers! Ram

It is very funny to talk about Newcastle as newcomer in the Premier League, because when I started watching football they were a pretty good team in England. The same as Leeds which was a great team. It is good for Newcastle that they haven't followed the same path downwards as Leeds. When I go back and remember that Leeds has played a Champions League semifinal aroung 2000, maybe it was 2001 when Bayern has won the title. Back to Newcastle, I expect them to finish at the middle of the table, and in the forthcoming years they will try to get back in the top.

I think Chris Hughton deserves a lot of praise for the turnaround he has done to the team since taking over. Cheers! Ram

It is definitely a good derby win for them. While they are newly promoted, I have never view them as one. Maybe it is the size of the club and its fans-based.

Yes, actually the fans of Newcastle are simply too good. And it was really a shocker to see them go down. But Hughton has done a great job since taking over from the bigger names around him. Cheers! Ram
