How much do you plan on spending for holiday gifts this year?

As a father of two kids, I find it difficult to balance meeting family expectations for gifts with sticking to our budget. What resources do you use to help balance desires and budgets? One resource that has helped is the use cashback websites such as Big Crumbs, Ebates, or Mr. Rebates.

there are many children in my family who i need to buy for at christmas including my own 2 children so i have a set amount allocated to each one and i stick to it. children have big imaginations but just because they ask for something doesnt mean they have to have it. maybe some education in the value of money would be a good thing. also our family no longer buys adult gifts, we feel the money should go on the kids and not the frown ups so maybe a family discussion would be in order and explain you cant aford to buy for everyone. you might jsut find your not hte only one who finds it difficult.

My three children are grown now but I never got them everything they wanted after they turned 6. It was way too expensive. I got them both fun and practical things they really liked.

We try to budget but blow it every year because our kids are older now and want and need more expensive things when they did when younger. My son wants a $800 computer this year, my one daughter wants a new laptop or car and my other daughter wants well everything!lol Don't know how we as parents are suppose to do this but we always manage don't we.

I do not have kids but I am on a budget this year as I have to buy a couple of gifts, for my parents, girlfriend, sibblings, niece and nephew. I work full time and occasionally do some survey sites and what not to get extra money for the holidays! I also try to find coupons on stores I'd be purchasing gifts at to help lower the cost. Good luck! :)
