Off to serve and make a difference: Experiencing life to the full

I was born and baptized as a Catholic. But during preschool, I was transferred to a Baptist school. Though there several "born-again" christians as they claim, our values education subjects does not run out for bible verses to memorize, play as a kit and even recite like a poetry. I surrendered my life to Jesus when I was on my 5th grade during a symposium. Later on, I became active on our music ministry where every week we get to praise and worship on the auditorium. But things never got easy, I was the only one in the family who's actively serving a church, joining conferences and attending youth camps. My life is a breakthrough until I decided to withdraw my membership from that church due to internal management issues. As I look for a place of solidarity and divine presence to help me cope up with the fast changing pace of my life during college, I merely became an attendee. I tried auditioning again for their music ministry but I failed to compromise my time and commitment with my studies. My faith is on its stagnant stage never wanting to go to the next level because I never knew how. That continued until I finished my degree and started to work. I met someone at work who's been actively serving their community which is a Catholic-Charismatic group. We got along for a short period of time because of the same interest that we have that is Faith, God and Service. I joined their group. I got a glimpse of most of their activities. Starting from the so-called "Gawad Kalinga" that reaches out to the poor through house building provided they needed to be members of the community and continuously serve as a family. This has been a big leap of faith for me as I prayed even before that regardless of religion, I want my faith to grow stronger and help those who are in need. On November 4, 2010, Thursday, I am flying to one of the islands in the Philippines to do a mission trip. We are holding a conference. And I am so excited to see how God will use me to do His wonders and miracles. Please pray for us. Be blessed. -MHY

Hello Carmelnirel. I actually posted it on a new topic. I got it summarized. When I find time, I could share more. All I can say is, if people can experience what we do as well, those who live in anxiety, fear, loneliness and hatred could live a prosperous life. Hearing several stories there, I know I am super blessed.

But sadlym Gawad Kalinga is no longer affiliated with CFC ministry. But they founded another one named Angkop Foundation which has the same vision. I think our new target for now is to sponsor schooling of one thousand kids.
