After a recent discussion on here I have found out another new food fact. It seems that 'brinjal' is another name for the aubergine (which I knew was known by many people as an egg plant). Naturally I had to investigate further and found out that this vegetable is known as eggplant, aubergine, melongene, brinjal and the guinea squash. I have learnt so much since being a member of this site, have you learnt new things on here too?

Here in the states we call it eggplant. I have never even heard of the other names. I have learned so much here on MyLot...that is why I really love this site. I have learned about other cultures. I have read about other countries in the paper, or learned in school, however, having a first hand account is always the best. I love also hearing about different terms from different countries, like different words for eggplant...lol

Oh I definitely agree! I think sometimes we take our life for granted until we hear about how other people live.

I know exactly what you mean, it has also realised how lucky I am when I hear of how other people live.

Hiya chem, I was watching "Chef Ramsey" as I call him the other night and I love the way he cooks and comes up with so many ideas for the simplest things. I would love to learn from someone like that. Never too late to learn eh Gal.? Chef Ramsey is the one who sorts out all of those yucky Kitchens on the Television. Well here it´s in Spanish but I can still here him speaking in English.

As in brinjal chutney. Yes, I pick up little bits on her. One of the great things about having a multicultural discussion site.
