It Is Not Too Late To Look For a Job at The Age of 40 Years Old and Above?

Hello Philippines, I just would like to ask all of you, if it is too late to look for a job at the age of 40 years old and above? And then, without experience? What would happen to them? Is there any job opportunity for those who are now at the age of 40 years old and above? I'm just confuse. Why won't the government give them the opportunity to work. I just don't understand. I really don't understand. Please, help me understand the situation we had here in the Philippines. I for one, can't find any job. I'm only an undergraduate student. I still can't find a job and from now on, I'm so afraid to look for a job outside home so, that's why I decided to look for an extra money here on the internet, but I'm not happy because some of the site that I join is not the same as those working at the company outside "internet". They pay 15th and 30th month and then, the minimum pay is 8,000.00 pesos or 10,000 pesos while here on "online", the pay is low. I suffered too much anxiety, stress and depression. I can't earn money to study in college.

It is never to late to to go to work or to start a new job. And I myself went to college here in the united states and, and they have it set up where they pay you to go to college. With the grants and government loans you can get to be a student that you don't even have to pay back unless you do not graduate or drop out. But no it is never to late to learn a new job.

its never too late for you! since you are good in english i hope you can also good in speaking the language i can suggest is why not call center? they pay more than 8k! i have a co worker who happens to be the grand mom of hers! and my coworkers some are ranging from 40 above! call centers dont discriminate age and educational background (not all but mostly!) even experience dont matter! as long as you can do your job! so try and best of luck!!

I am sorry you are in that situation. It's a chicken-and-egg situation where you need to earn money to study, but you can't work without a college degree. If you will check out other posts here, you will see that it is not the age that is the problem here, but lack of employment opportunities. Even janitors here in Metro Manila need a college degree! There are actually a lot of opportunities in the internet, and they do not require a college degree. Why don't you check out onlinejobs.ph? Maybe you can find a match to your skills there.

That is the sad reality, almost all companies have age requirement below 40. But if you have talent like in cooking or singing you can use that to apply for a job. Another option is the call center, I heard from my friend that it does not matter if you are old as long as you have good communication skill in English you can apply. If you are into sales Avon, Natasha, Careline etc have good products to sell.

I think best option for them is to start their own business instead of wasting more time. As you told without experience at age of 40, how it comes, what they were doing before, I cannot think that they remained idle for this much years, they ll be doing some thing. Earning money on internet is not so easy as people think of, it needs some investment first then there is no surety that you ll get that much money back or not, so I think you should invest first in some business and then go for these site or you can start now and then after starting some business you can invest here. Dont think that any company ll give you job at this age, they need hardworkers and at the age of 40 without experience is not hardworker, I know you have your own arguments but the reality is this, no one ll think that you were studying or having problem, if you were studying then which degree you have, at this age you must have PhD or Post doc degree... So realize the truth and start your own business...:)

I think it is good option of having some thing instead of nothing, I think you can start from home, business doesn't mean that you start with a huge company or other, you can sell commodities at home, or you can sell it online, depends on you, can choose any option other wise there ll be other business opportunities too, so look for them and have suggestions from friends and family and decide by your self...:)

Hello IntrovertShy, it's not too late to look for a job in the Philippines because there are jobs that doesn't discriminate your educational attainment and your age. Here are some jobs to chose from considering that you are based here in the Philippines( lol I'm a Filipino also): 1. Call Center Agent( as long as you have good English communication skills and guts then you are qualified. Oh! Btw, You must have finished 2 years of college) 2. Search Engine Optimization or SEO Specialist ( no discrimination as long as you are patient and knowledgeable in backlinking sites, grading websites, blogging, etc.) 3. Korean English Teacher ( You must be good in English communication skills.)

The life is not easy but the life must go on. We also have many complaints to our government. Here is the same. I think the age discrimination is common and it does exist. When you read the job recruitment, the requirement is a good education plus young age. But all the people will grow old one day and not everybody can be so lucky to have the permanent good job until they get retired. So some of them will be fired at a certain age by any excuses. This is not fair. This problem should be solved by the government. A good government should think out more ways for those people who are in need, rather than how to finish the "Face Project" well. I love China

its very hard to earn online. there are many scam site. its good that mylot pays. i received my second payment. It is really low compared to the earnings in a company. but if i have a choice, i would like to put up a small business and just stay at home. however our location is not suitable for business and I need to work to earn money that i will spend for everyday consumption such as food, milk of my two kids, water, electricity, school tuition fee, etc. I your place is good for business why dont you put up a small business like, barb-q stand?

Most employers are looking for people who are in their early years, with the belief that they can be productive for many years. The young generation are energetic and stronger than those who are aged employees. However, it doesn't mean that you don't have a chance. You still have a chance of landing a job but it will not be commensurate to your educational attainment and age level. I just hope that you don't need to concentrate on finding a job but starting your own business, though it may be small in the beginning.

yeah i know they make it hard for us..the society is generally cruel...they require more than your skills and willingness to work for you to be able to get a job...they need you to secure a bunch of ID's (like nbi's, etc...) , they expect you to have a diploma / degree for a job position that doesn't really need one, and they expect you to have years of experience by the time you reach the age limit of say, 25... it's hard to get entry-level jobs once you hit 25 i know for a fact.... well anyway.... i'm really sorry to hear about your situation.... i feel for you.... well i'm financially struggling too, and if only my parents weren't abroad, i don't think i'd ever survive here, and i wouldn't have finished my studies....

Actually, that's the problem with the Philippine Government. Age is the big factor in finding a good job. Much more of undergraduates? For me, 40 yrs old are still capable of working, but here, it was a big deal, while the children which should be in the school are the one who's working. In other countries, even the senior for as long as they are capable of working were given a chance to work, and give children the right to studies. I myself, I graduated at the age of early 30s, and I think that's a good step I've done. Now I'm in my late 40s and capable of finding a job though through agency and contractual basis only. I think even in my situation, the best thing to do is save to put up a small business and try to make it succeed. That's the only chance in the Philippine to get a job at our age.

I think it's not too late for a 40 yo to look for a job. As they say think things with endless possibilities. Call center is one since you can speak english. Or you may apply to work for a real estate company. You may also get involve in reselling products and find one which needs just little capital. Hope you can find one soon. :)

It's really hard to find a job at such age with no experience. I think if one is like this, he/she should have at least a vocational course... Or apply at jobs online that can be done by people who have no experience like writing, data entry, etc. If someone believes he/she can do it and ask for God's guidance and is making efforts to find a job, I know he/she will find a job for him/her.

It's not too late for to look for a job I have some colleague in my company and they are old too, in fact, one of my colleague is about 45 years old and he still able to work in a call center. I would suggest you apply for a call center job as there's no discrimination in call centers even though you didn't finish your studies. I am an undergraduate as well and I've in call center industry for about 4 years. There are hundreds of call centers here in the Philippines and the only requirement there is you must speak in English that's it.
