Why do you exercise?

I see all sorts of different people at the gym. Many are overweight.. and obviously they're there to lose weight.. just like I am. Then there are the muscular athletic types who work out to keep up their muscular figure. There are the super skinny people who work out to gain a little muscle and tone their bodies. Why do you work out? To lose weight? To keep your current figure? To add muscle? Or just because you like to?

After giving birth in a third times I gain too much weight that every time my husband and my two kids see me they always utter and make a joke that I'm chubby. It challenges me a lot. so i enrolled to the gym that can help back in shape and to gain self confident again.

That's mean of them! They should love you for who you are!

they love me... saying and making a joke like that doesn't mean they don't loves me. Saying those word is like encouraging you to do your best because they knew that you have something to do to be the best. sometimes we need someone to be at our side to be an eye opener. And I do believed that if you really love someone, accepting of who really she/he is, is not only your rule but also help him/her to reach his potential and this is the best way to demonstrate your love.

Hello, I'm new to mylot. What a great question. I work out to burn off stress from my job mostly. I mainly run and do yoga and after a rough day sometimes I can't turn off my mind until I work out! Obviously the health and building muscle etc. are a nice benefit!

I exercised to get fit and lose weight. I haven't exercised for the last 6 weeks though as no energy from being ill. Have gained 4 pounds but I hope t begin next week again if my doctor give the thumbs up. Have you moved yet? How is it going? You must be hoping to move in soon and get settled before Christmas comes.

Well I just started working out again to lose weight...I have gained an extra 35 lbs in the last year or two both due from quitting smoking and being lazy...I want to be able to lose it all plus more within the next 7 months.... It is a bit harder for me though than i would like it because I am a diabetic and because of that I have to make sure that I am eating enough to where my sugars dont dip down too low so while I can still siet it is going to take me a bit longer because i can only go as low as 1500 calories a day. I also do a cardio workout every day or so depending on how I am feeling and I am hoping that I can stick with it because i will admit that that is one thing I am terrible at is sticking with things for longer than a few weeks....

It is unhealthy for anyone to go below a 1500 calorie diet. The main idea is to exercise to burn off the calories. Your goal should be to get to 30 minutes of cardio everyday.. then an hour. I worked my way up to 2 hours a day and lost 80 pounds in 6 months.

Iv always been a pretty girl but one with a few extra on the thighs and mid section, and iv had a good run with the boys in my life but never a great run with the boys. I was tired of being this overweight pretty girl who was liked but never desired. I wanted to finally feel the passion reciprocated from the man. So i joined the gym and in the beginning it was about being liked and wanted but now, its for me. I find there is no better feeling than the one i feel when i see my progress, no better feeling than the one i feel when i can run up a flight of stairs and not huff and puff before sitting down. And no better feeling than also achieving that first initial motivation. Im so glad i toughened up and took the plunge.

It is always best to do things for ourselves instead of for other people.

Todays world is driven by more specific demands from people around you. They expect your to be good looking as their life is at some or the other point is connected to you at work place, college, or in society. So I have little different answer here I work out to make people around me feel better of being with me. This may sound little weired but its obvious that we are going to stay fit if we go to gym so I felt like to give some different answer. Thank You

I've struggled with my weight for the vast majority of my life and because of that I work out so that I am able to lose weight. My actual goal is to lose about 75-90 pounds before I am happy with my weight. In addition to that, in the time that I've been exercising on a regular basis, I've found that I really do like to work out and when I get to the point that I've lost the amount of weight that I'd like to lose, I will contine to work out because of the fact that I enjoy it.

For whatever reasons, exercise is important. Everyone, whether you're sick, disable or physically impaired needs, to exercise. Some benefits of exercising: - build and maintain your immune system - burn calories - boost your mood and positive outlook - regulate parts of your body I work out because I would like to stay healthy. I want to stay fit and I want to maintain balance.

I exercise, 1st: to stay healthy since I realized,my lifestyle has been so sedentary for almost a year now; and 2nd: to keep my figure. That's basically it.

I exercise because I love it. Just taking time out of the day to center myself by expanding and growing my body positively is one of the greatest feelings in my experience. The feeling of strength, love, agility, and cleanliness is by far a high like no other, that I like to constantly chase for it is one of the only things that is truly good for you and others. Being healthy benefits you exponentially, so I learn to change my thoughts to that of love when exercising, so as to improve my mindset and my life.

My training has slowed to a near complete halt lately but when I'm consistent, I work out to feel good, lose weight, gain strength, detoxify my body, challenge my body, reduce stress and probably a bunch of other reasons that I'm not thinking of at the moment. Exercise is phenomenal for the mind, body and soul.

Originally I started because I have always been a heavy kid and had to lose weight. Then I started playing football and started lifting because I didn't think I was strong enough (even though I was already the strongest person on the field), but I just like the idea of piling on muscle and strength. I just like the feeling of finding out how strong I really am (usually I underestimate myself), when I see the weights, and think it could be hard until I lift them, and realize that they aren't heavy. It's that high that I get from "heavy" lifting, especially since my definition of heavy is different than a normal person. I like that I am not what is considered normal because I am a big boy getting bigger, and stronger, and that overall feeling of becoming a beast of an animal.

Every body wants to remain fit and for fitness exercise is necessary. I am very lazy in exercise, I hardly do any exercise but I like to take walk every weekend in near by park just to have some fresh air....:)

I work out to keep fit. Sometimes if I feel bad, I work out to lose some kilos. I love to keep my figure slim and attractive. I don't really like muscles, but I like to see tone abs.

I prefer thinking about working out, and not actually working out. I guess I am too lazy for it. I go to the gym on the first day of every (almost) month- to gain some weight(just to answer the question) and I realize that I can sit back at home, play on-line games, and eat as much as I can. Thats a better way to gain weight instead of spending it.. :)
