I often love reading articles and discussion on how to save money, but they all bounce around the real issue. Here is my partake on the real way to save money. KEEP YOUR EMOTIONAL SPENDING IN CHECK. Sometimes we go on a spending spree when we really don't need to. No matter the amount you spend, do you really NEED that item? If you get angry for whatever reason, what do you usually do? Some people go to the store to buy alcohol when they do not really need to. Or, people are late for work and have not had their coffe yet because they didn't get up in time to make it. So, they stop by the store to get a cup of coffee. Guess what? Might as well get a donut for breakfast while you are at it, and maybe a pack of gum to cover up your breathe. How about when you are lonely? I can't even imagine the money people spend because they are lonely or have nothing to do. It's easier said than done, but, if you can keep your emotions in check, I can promise you that you can save some money for something else. I feel like everyone does it. These are just some examples of different types of emotional spending. Mylotters, what is your partake on this matter? g€ive me some examples of times you wasted money based on any type of emotions. I believe people can learn from reading others partake on this matter.

I do not do this myself, but I think it is well known that this is a common phenomenon, so I do think you are onto something there!

Thank you for that. I believe that even some people may save a little money in one area, doesn't consider other areas where they may be spending extra money.

I have on occasion gone emotional shopping. Luckily, I know my limits, and stick to the thrift store. usually if i can find one really good deal, it curbs whatever emotion i am feeling. Since I am at a thrift store, I am usually only spending a buck or two. I am pretty good about my other spending, unfortunately, the cost of nutritious food, and fuel are going up. That is trashing my budget.

I totally agree and maybe the biggest emotional spending that we do not even consider. That's diving our vehicle. I admit, there have been numerous times I got in my fuel guzzling Ford F150 to drive to Wal-Mart to pick up something that I really don't need.I have gotten better and my splurging, but we all do it. If we sit back and think what we really spend our money, (to include pennies) on we could save a few bucks here and there.
