I have a few friends that call themselves vegetarian, but they accept fish and other seafood. I´m glad of that, because when you can add any sort of meat or meat broth to food it helps a lot to have interesting tastes.
Tomorrow, I´ll have my best friends for dinner. She is a vegetarian of this sort and he would eat a mamuth if possible
. So I´m making a seafood risotto and they will both be happy.
What do you do when you have guests that have different ways of eating? Share!

I have a vegan diet so in my bungalow I serve vegan foods to the people that come round for tea or dinner. I put soy drink into their tea or coffee. I am very keen on making salads and I can cook pasta plus rice. I give my friends and family food I know they will enjoy. One friend that visits often enjoys eating rice and beetroot. I can do pasta with a mushroom sauce. I am able to cook a potato in its jacket. A vegan doesn't eat animals, fish or any animal products like milk, eggs, cheese or hunny. I was a vegetarian when I was a child and I didn't eat fish. I think of them as sea animals.

Hi Maxine,
Mushrooms are one of my favorite cooking helpers. I make pasta, risotto, al sorts od sauces, quiches. Probably some of the food I just mentioned have indredients you don´t eat but surelly there are replacements for them. I have gome several times to vegan restaurants and they have wonderful food. I eat meat ,but it´s not mandatory. Nuts and legumes are ingredients I use a lot when Dixie comes for diner. She is only vegetarian though so yesterday I made my seafood risotto.

I hardly ever have any guests in my house. I just wanted to say, however, that the seafood sounds good. I love seafood and haven't had any in a long time! I plan to have some one of these days, though. I've always been a meat eater because I was raised around Black Angus Cattle. I was in the 4H club back in the early 60s where we showed calves and I was taught that beef is good for you. Some people are saying different these days but I just can't imagine a meal without some kind of meat.

I have always been a meat eater too, but as I have grown older, I am tending to eat less amounts of meat. I just don´t want to eat red meat everyday. But when I do, I like a giant steak, mooing and just love the grease it has
. We have good meat in my country but if I want the best I cross the Andes and go to Argentina. That meat is out of this world!!!

Hiya margi,
Seafood Risotto, yum I like that but I don´t know what I would do really if other People had different tastes as we don´t have many People round to eat like that having different likes and dislikes they just eat what I have and that´s it. Well I suppose I could come across that situation yes. If so I would put a Rice like you have Seafood Risotto and another kind of pasta with something like Chicken with Red and Green Peppers. Something like that. By that time I would probably change my mind again but for not that is going to be the Menu for those would be visitors.
You are making me hungry again but I am not eating now as it is very late at night here. Night night all. Sweet Dreams.xxx

Hiya margi,
I much prefer stuffed Peppers actually with rice and a touch of minced beef or chicken.
Not much of a Seafood friend really. I like the taste more than anything but not all those bits of Shells and stuff. I do like Gambas (Shrimps) though you know (En Gabardinas Rebozadas).
A Neighbour from above me where I lived once taught me how to make them. Tuna fish is a favourite of mine too and Salmon.
As I once wrote somewhere I think it was to Wizzy I have a big trauma with Fish (grin). Never mind I just don´t eat it and that´s it.

Well...I would definitely serve food that is safe for everyone. For example, my best friend and the rest of her family are "Seventh Day Adventist". In most occasions, we serve pork. Most Filipino dishes have pork in it. In this case, I would have some dishes that doesn't have pork and crustacean. I could make 2 dishes out of 1 recipe. We have "Pork Adobo", because them I would also have "Chicken Adobo". It's only few of the many considerations we have to take in making our party or just a simple dinner with friends more enjoyable and fun. The key is, knowing your visitors and preparing the right food for everybody! So, indulge! ^_^

I totally agree with you. We make the kind of food that our friends will enjoy. What spices do you put in the pork adobo? The word adobo is a Spanish one and for me it means surround the meat with nice spices, salt and so on. I´d love to know how our common roots in cooking have changed along the years and centuries.

Hello there! Thanks for marking me BR.
...Sorry for replying so late since I wasn't able to go back to the discussions that have responded. Adobo indeed is a Spanish word. It is a dish which Philippines is very well-known of. We simply use onions, garlic, black pepper and bay leaf. Some people may put ginger too! And for people who want to add some spice, they would put red long pepper.

I just wonder what kind of vegetarian they are, strictly speaking milk and honey are also non-veg, because they are not from vegetable sources..
my daughter's friend's mom has strange eating habits, some times she will eat meat, fish, eggs only, no rice etc..
happy mylotting
cheers
