I would prefer cash! hehehe. Anything that my family and friends can give it is fine with me.

I think it would be more meaningful to receive gifts instead of cash. Anyway, sometimes you do receive gifts that you don't like. Anyway, you'll remember who gave it to you and that would be more meaningful than cash. However, if you have a special items in mind that you wish to get, then either you are very lucky to receive it as a Christmas gift or you can hope you receive enough money for you to purchase 1 instead :D

I think that if you give a gift it should be something special for that person. Cash tells me that I have to give you a gift and I don't care enough to take the time and effort to find something special for you.

I prefer a gift- it means that a person has actually put his creative thought to good use and directed those thoughts towards me. I prefer a simple 1 euro gift with a lot of thought behind it, than a million euros just shoved to me in the bank.

I hate giving cash or gift cards for Christmas because I feel it doesn't require much thought, but that's is usually what I end up giving my nieces and nephews because that is easier with their ever changing minds, likes and dislikes. I don't really have a preference on what to get as I am not in charge of that, people know what I like and what I'm in to (arts & crafts and reading) and it is their choice on what to give not mine, and I don't EXPECT anything.
