Well, I might get some very negative comments here but still I don't like Tobey as a spiderman. I think he fails to keep the aura. I don't like the way he speaks or gives expressions. Do u like him as spiderman? Or who u think could have been a better spiderman?

i actually like Tobey Maguire, he embodies the dorky Peter Parker quite well. I don't like the fact that he keeps crying, though, and he sometimes is a bore when it comes to serious scenes. Other than that, his portrayal of the boyish, youthful and dorky Peter Parker is cute for me. For the third spiderman, i think the writers stretched the whole thing to its limit. too much useless drama.

Hi Paul, Yes what you say - I too felt this especially during the second edition. But the third one was much better - the dark shade was good to be portrayed. On serious grounds, however, I feel that we do not have a choice here to be choosy as they would have only him in the role of Spiderman. I wonder who would fit more in the role if I was the selector! Any recommendations? Cheers, theSids.

The third movie was junk! Don't you read the comic books? Whoever wrote the third movie didn't seem to care anymore. It was as bad as watching "Star Wars Episode 3: Return of the Sith". Compared to the first two films, it did not compare. Tobey Maguire, to me, and to a great majority of people, was the perfect Peter Parker and we can't really see anyone else playing that role. It's like J. Jonah Jameson, the E.I.C. of the "Daily Bugle". J.K. Simmons did such great job playing that character, and he was so perfect for that character that no one can see anyone else playing that character. Again, you all need to read the comics.

Hi rogue13xmen13 Opinions vary and I accept your point - of late I am not reading the comics... I cannot afford them as they are beyond my reach - maybe I would buy those when I have my own kid and then... I can reply to this one better. I was speaking my view without the Comics things. The story in the second just didnt look amazing to me... However the Negative shade for Spidey did make an appeal to me. Cheers, theSids.

Hi guys!! I think u failed to get the question. I am not taking about the storyline, I am talking about how the character was played. Look, though u may not agree (every people have right to have different opinions) there are some movies which bcome a blockbuster but the actors/actresses fails to b as good as the story, picturization, background score, costume and various other stuffs connected with the film. So, they get framed as "one movie miracle". There are some movies which gets FLOP but we like some characters and the persons who play the character. We hear reviews that "character was weak, there was not much scope but the actor did brilliant, no one cud have pulled the role like him". So, a role or a movie will get box-office hit or not doesn't depend only upon the storyline. I have a huge collection of Phantom series by Lee Falk. I am a die-hard fan of him. But when I watched the movie I think (solely my opinion) actor billy zane failed to portray the character. Mr. walker's strength, his emotions towards Diana feelings for the jungle... Bottomline is I just don't like Mr. Maguire for the spiderman role. I have watched some of his other movies and I appreciate those characters. I think every one has his/her own opinion. that's why someone like Tom Cruise and some go for Brad Pitt. Does, it mean those people who like Tom is not smart enough or does that make Tom silly? No way!! Its just how u perceive things in life. To Sid - Sony Pictures Selects New 'Spider-Man'; He's 26-Yr-Old British Actor Andrew Garfield. :-) To rogue13xmen13 - Srry 4 d speling mistak. I juz hav a weird way of writin. I lik d short-cut 1s. U knw dat nw; I gss OR may b I din knw dat its "spider-man" n not "spiderman". Thnkz anyways :-) Kip commenting guys!! Regards Paul

Okay, first of all, Marvel Comics is relaunching the "Spider-Man" (please take note of the spelling because people always mis-spell "Spider-Man"). I thought that Tobey Maguire was an awesome Spider-Man, and I think he did a great job playing Peter Parker and narrating Spider-Man's story (note that in the comics Peter Parker/Spider-Man has to narrator his own story). Tobey Maguire pulled it off perfectly, something that most can't do nowadays. I fear for the relaunch because it won't be as good as the first two Spider-Man films (I am not counting the third because that film was garbage, the writing was junk).
