New ideas for crafts, do you have them?

I looked in a magazine and saw some silver spirals for a mobil. I think I might be able to glue the inside out fronts of two potato chip bags together. Then when dry, cut out a spiral and hang it with string, yarn or fishing string. So do you get ideas from magazines? Do you do recycled crafts? What kinds of ideas have you gotten? I'm also going to send for a couple of craft kits. One is a jingle bell wreath kit (really small ones for hanging on trees) and the other will be a resin, x-mas pictures, and magnet kit. One I will be learning how to string things and the other I will be doing a lot of gluing, I suspect. So have you ever sent for craft kits? How did they work out? Some of the kits I've bought have not worked out and some I have bought have worked out. If it get too involved with skills I don't have, it doesn't work out. One new skill is all I can handle. How about you?

I went to a local craft fair yesterday. Saw a really neat craft I would love to do but it looks difficult. One of the latest crafts in the midwest is making pendants with washers. She also offered a service where your dog or cat's photo could be put on the pendant. The lady who had the booth was trying to explain the process to me but there were too many interruptions. Another craft was putting photos or pictures on bottle caps. I didn't see a place in the bottle cap where a hole could be drilled so really don't know what could be done with them however it might be interesting to cover a coffee table with the bottle caps and then put a piece of glass over the caps to protect them. Let me know if you want the name of the website so you can see the finished projects.

I researched tons of bottle cap crafts, esp. pendants a few months ago.I did a discussion about them. You can glue a jewelry loop to the back. You can also put a wire around the entire bottle cap, twist tightly, and create a loop to string them. All that information is on utube. There is a car covered in bottle caps and chests or drawers, etc. pictures and recycled bottle caps search will get you some great pictures. Bottle caps with pictures on the bottom and resin on top are all the rage right now. There is even a kit for that. utube had a lot of bottle cap pendent tutorials. When the craft shows were on two summers ago, they had pendents from washers. Try DIY and washer jewelry. I think you will get similar, but not the same instructions. You'll have to figure out the rest.Too bad it was soo noisy that you couldn't hear. How the photos become part of the pendant would be interesting. The pendents I saw didn't have pictures. So that is too bad. They're not supposed to get too noisy where we are. People go over and tell everyone to be quiet, turn down the noise, etc. Maybe the directions are somewhere online. Maybe a demonstration is on utube, you can try there. If not exactly the same, then how to apply pictures to metal or something like it. Take care, sounds interesting.

The washers and bottle caps were great looking. I specifically liked the washer idea. The lady in the booth said it was a long process but I couldn't pick up on anything more. People were asking her questions, etc. so this was the distraction. She couldn't hold a conversation with me to explain the entire process. My daughter knows her so maybe there is a way I can contact her and find out more information.

mentalward shared a website with us and I have found a bunch of things on it to make like a paint can you buy brand new and decorate it....I have a craft sale this weekend so hopefully what I made will sell. I have never sent for kits. I usually just find the supplies around here that I need to use.

Like I said, if there is a skill or technique I need to learn, then I'll buy the kit to teach me. If I can just see what it's like, I can buy the stuff around, too. Hope your craft sale goes well. Have fun and make lots of $. Take care

It seems like I'm always looking for ideas. I think your spiral from potato chip bags is a great idea. I've used them for gift bags before, but that's all. I used to belong to a craft club where they sent me kits every month or so, but it got tiresome. I would rather make something with my own imagination than to follow directions, I guess. :)

I do a combination. I want to do from my imagination, but I know I need more skills, too. So I get a kit with one new skill and then jump off with my imagination. I loved seeing the spirals in the craft book. But since I can make spirals (have all the necessary skills) and have bags that need to be reused,. . ..I just have to find something that can draw on it and stay on while I cut. I'll try pencil first, I think. Or maybe a needle, I probably only need to dent it. Take care.
