Please, mylot, do something!!!

When I have finished commenting at one of my posts or answering while thinking how I feel about something, many times I go to my interest "questions and answers" to check if there´s another kind of posts as they are all different. But sometimes (as today)the area was flooded by two members asking nonsensical questions or posting about things you could not answer at all. I checked the second page and it had the same problem. What bothers me is that a good post is sort of swallowed by this junk and when mylot finally deletes it, the good post is maybe in a third page with no answers at all. I wonder why mylot deletes so easily some posts about money making sites (which are answered with humour many times by us)and does not send a reprimend to a member with 3000 posts who is still using the site only to earn a penny and has not learned the word SOCIAL site OK. This is a rant. I had to say it. Sorry.

I have to wonder, Marguicha, if you reported any (or all) of these posts. You say nothing about it here, if you did. Personally, I try to report all that I see which are breaking the rules but sometimes I just have to give up and hope that Admin will look at the profile in question and see the rest of the junk and realise that this person is trolling (though, perhaps, not in as malicious or purposeful a way as some we have had in the past). It is certainly EVERY responsible member's duty to report such behaviour to Admin, as we are exhorted to do in the Guidelines, and to hope that it will be dealt with swiftly and effectively. If you did not report at least one of these posts before posting this, then I'm afraid to say that you are out of order to post such a rant (and twice, at that, which is against the Guidelines itself).

I did not report them as they were already reported when I got to the interest page. Do you think I should go back, get ito the posts and report them for a second time? O though one report (specially since it was shown in the tags) was enough.

If the tags suggest that they have already been reported, I will sometimes do a little digging (in the profile, for example). If it looks as though someone has systematically reported many of the posts, I won't waste people's time by reporting again, but if it looks like just the odd one has been reported, I will consider whether a 'blanket' report is needed (usually I report three or four with a recommendation that all posts by that person should be looked as). Sometimes I will bookmark that user and revisit in a day or so. I try not to spend too long on this 'impecunious' activity (though, of course, the more useless and invalid posts which are deleted, the more revenue is available for the valid ones). If I find myself getting too 'hot under the collar' about it, I take a break!

Just a reminder for everyone, since the subject of tags came up. Tagging a discussion as reported or as a guideline violation is not something I would like to see happening. I can understand why it may have seemed like a good idea and I suppose in a lot of cases, it would steer unwary users from a discussion that is only going to be deleted. But, not every discussion that is reported will be deleted. If the discussion is not deleted, I then have to go in and manually edit the tags. Now, I'm not a lazy person by any means, but this does create extra work. So, show the mod some luv.

marguiocha you are wrong if you think those idiots flooding the pages with one sentence idiocy are making big money as I noticed they get few responses and they are too lazy to read the rules so they keep up breaking them. one person had maybe thirty discussions most were just junk and five of t hem were deleted. they may be money hungry to the p ooint of dumbness but if they do not comment on the responses they get it they do not earn diddley squat. Some here still do not realize they do not get paid for our work when we respond to their discussions, they only get paid when they comment on those responses. lol lol lol. So they would do much better to do more responding and learn houw to make a good discussion first before actually making another discussion. then perhaps they would earn from not getting their posts deleted and losing earnings all the time. c i

You are right up to some point, friend. The second problem I see is that good posts in that interest just disappear among all the junk. And THAT´S a pity. I checked the second page of that interest after I saw the flood, and there were more posts by the same person. I gave up. And so many good mylotters will not receive the amount of answers they should.

This site pays for all kinds of participation. I don´t know how much, but I do know that your comments on any subject are part of your participation. Comments are not saying "thank you" however polite it may sound. You have to comment more than that. Responses to your posts are part of the participation of the people who answer them.

I did not know that if you start a discussion and do not reply to the responses, you do not get paid. I have observed many discussions where the author does not reply to the comments given. Thank you for highlighting this. Is it written in the FAQ?

ABSOLUTELY!! It can not be said enough. i really think mylot should put a hamper on the amount of discussions you can start a day. that would help a little. if we were only allowed to start one a day, at least some of these people would have to come back the next day to check things out. I also think they should make it mandatory that you respond to at least the first page of your comments from a discussion you make. i mean like give you about a week to at least comment on a few. i dont know. there must be a way to resolve this. they have already said one liners should not apply but some never listen to that and they make 8 to 10 of them, then run off into lala land waiting for money to come flowing in. ..is that not true?

This incredible member posted about 20 posts (1 line, I must say) in minutes. Maybe I am envious. I am a professional writer in my own language and can hardly post two a day when I´m prolific. But I do think it´s unfair that we hug ourselves when we make more than a few cents a day here while they must be making dollars. I prefer friends to money, but I think the worst is the good posts get misplaced with all tha junk around. I hope Go Ask Alice sees this and says something. I know they have lots of work but when I went to that interest, I could see that another mylot had already reported the posts. I would accept a paid job at mylot to clean up that

I´ll drop by, at your post. It is a shame such people are not penalized in some way. It takes me ages to make one decent post ( not the brightest ever either). But the idea is to exchange and socialise.

Any discussion you feel violates the guidelines should be reported. Obviously I am not omnipotent and can't be everywhere at all times [oh, how i wish I could some days, lol] so we welcome users reporting discussions. It helps us out more than you realize and we are greatly appreciative of it. Reporting discussion does not guaranty they will be deleted, as I have to review each and every one that is reported. there are times when the discussion doesn't actually violate any of the guidelines and I allow it to stand. But keep reporting anyways, more often than not, it was rightfully reported. You have raised a valid point that lends to the Mylot community philosophy -quality discussion over quantity. While there is no limit to the number of discussions one can or should post, they should be quality discussions. This is difficult to do if one is posting far more discussions than they can properly follow up on and maintain a well flowing conversation in

Thanks for answering this post. I am aware that you have a lot of work. I will report in the future what I feel is against the rules of the site and will never tag the post just in case it´s acceptable. I also checked ( typical of old ladies) the posts that enraged me and I thank you that they were removed although I did not report them as someone else had (tag included). I know there are people that write faster and post more. But in this case, the post itself was a copy-paste of the title I do think though that most of mylot members are wonderful people that have made this site a wonder of learning and getting together of people all around the world. Thanks again!

Hello sir. I am new here in MyLot and I haven't experienced anything like it. It is really bothersome that most posts are just made for the sake of money and didn't even come from the heart. I mean, what's the point of doing MyLot if your main purpose is to earn money for comments? I love commenting in so many things and I don't even consider the amount that I earn every time I post something. I do this for the sake of sharing my thoughts about everything under the sun and yet there are some who are just doing it to earn. But one thing is for sure, one day, they'll stop posting nonsense here in MyLot and suddenly all that's left are those whose main interest is to interact with their heart on it. I hope you can add me up, buddy. Thanks!

Welcome to mylot, mrclay. I´m a woman, by the way. You will find a lot of nice people here who come to mylot for the same reasons that you are here. You can see that even this post has several different points of view, even if we all share our annoyance towards one-line posters. Happy posting!!!

Well, let´s hope that people will learn. At least some of them.. There are still a lot of good discussions here, and those who try to cheat the system will probably fail in the long run. I rarely see these one liners, as I often go directly to my friend´s discussions and have not so much time and energy to be active. I hope the people who are new will realize that we have a great opportunity here to make friends and enhance our writing skills!!

I have seen a lot of one line discussions myself, and in essence those aren't really discussions at all. After all, that is what mylot is about. I really don't think they know what the word discussion means, or they wouldn't post just one liners. I most fo the time don't even respond to them, and if I do, I tell them that what they think is a discussion really isn't. I try to help others when I can, as that is all of our responsibility to do so, but on the other hand, we wouldn't have to help them so much, if they would have read the guidelines in the first place. Maybe one of these days they will, or we can hope so anyway. Good luck to you and happy mylotting.

Sometimes I have those special effect wishes and imagine that whenever smeone posts the guideline violation post, there would be a 3D monster with the rules of the site. I bet that would also easy the task of the moderator.

Hello Marguicha, I can see that you're a lot concern of being a good social person here in my lot. I'm glad to hear that, but I rarely encounter this situation like yours, because all I do is to check on my home and seen the most replied nice topics and some interesting topics. I suggest you must report those posting non-sensed topics and the administration of my lot may be verified about it, although out of thousands members here in my lot, the admin. may be delayed in deleting those non-sensed topics and patience may help my dear. Cheer up. ^_^ no worries, I have to reply only those who have good topics or discussions anyway. Hopefully we at my lot be conscious of what we are going to post not just for the sake of earning money but also to have this site a very productive social site as well. Have a nice day!

Hi Bingster, I see you have been a short time here, according to the number by your name. In this site there are lots of good people that make nice posts. But someone has to answer them first. So, sometimes you can see a wonderful topic with one or two answers. I check, once in a while, the posts with no responses. Some of them are good but most are made by newbies who do not have enough friends to check on their work. Mylot is as nice a site as it´s members. And it´s a wonderful site. Have fun!!!

Very true. The few bad apples will make the site unbearable for the rest. However, I think this kind of "education" needs to be on going and everybody need to chip in and help report these incidents. There will always be newbies on the site who do not understand the rules so we will need to help each of them understand their responsibilities.

This will be a difficult task without the help of the Admin. However, the admin cannot do it alone. All of us need to chip in and educate all the newbies and existing members of the rules. It will also be an ongoing process since there are always new members joining the site.

I myself also experience that many times. I wonder, if mylot forbid such talkin', so why they provide the related interest? While I also see many people easily stick his referral link. That's disgusting! I don't need any of that, I need solution. I think that's scam. But why mylot doesn't ban such persons really question me. Hopefully this post will not be deleted by Mylot.
