The owner of the house where we leave tell me that I should not wash too often. He told me I should save all our dirty clothes and wash it in a large bulk, because if I wash with just 1 hamper of dirty clothes often it will destroy his washing machine. I said yes just to appease him but I don't believe it. I think it is better to wash in right quantity of clothes not in bulk because the machine will have difficult in working. What do you think guys?

Well, wear and tear does tend to accumulate over time. I think that also the time that the machine has been in use will take its toll. Then there are just times where things break down, because that's what appliances do. Still, its not going to matter, as it will just wear down over time. They do not make things like they used to.

I agree with the wear and tear thing, but as if I use it everyday. I want to use it once a week but he is checking on me. So I wash every other week or if he is away from home.

hi angelic I think that owner has a screw loose somewhere in him as overloading a ma chine will damage it while if its in good shape you could wash a hundred one hamper loads and not hurt the damned machine
at all.the man is certifiable.washing machines are usually built to last a long time and if his is not old and out of whack already his should be up to one hamper loads all the tiem.

He has many absurd ideas. Good thing we are paying cheap rent.

From what i know if it doesn't exactly damage the washing machine but obviously wouldn't make it last quite aslong because of it being used more. I tend to save all the washing until i have a big load so i'm not wasting water or electricity always washing clothes. Obviously if something needs doing urgently i will do washing before, but i try not to.

Hi Angelic,
Like anything, the more you use it, the more you wear it down. I tell my daughters not to wash real small loads because they are running up my electric bill and it is wear and tear on the washer. A full load of clothes is good. If you over-load the machine then that is even worse for the washer. I don't think you should stuff the washer too much because it won't clean your clothes right and it is really bad for the machine. Are you living with this guy or renting from him? If he is living right there then you kind of have to go by his rules but if you are renting from him then I'd just do my laundry the way I want.

Well in general no, but in another way yes. It is the wear and tear of the device. Like if you run something every day, it may break down a little bit faster than something that you run every other day. A washing machine is really no different from that. Still, they really do not build things like that used to.
