Why do we need sunshine?

Sunshine is the foundation of life and it is needed for our body to produce vitamin D. It has also been found recently that sunshine is needed to activate T-cells in our body which help to fight off harmful diseases.

Well, it looks like you answered your own question...:) studies have actually shown that it aids in the prevention of depression due to the vitamin D. Some people actually have a condition where they have special lights put in their homes in the winter so they due not sink into depression.
