I lost my headset!

I worked in a call center company who provided me a headset which I can't bring at home because they prohibit it, so I have no choice but to leave it inside a locker where everyone in my colleague can access it because since I'm a newbie they can't provide my own locker either since tenured agents occupied all the lockers and no more lockers are available. When I came back to work to take calls, all of a sudden my headset is gone and no one seems to be responsible for it, so it was deducted from my salary. If this happens to you, would you pay for it? I'm so sorry this happened to you. I know how it feels if the amount of the headset will be deducted from your salary. You really worked hard for it then it is not your fault to lose your headset. Your trainer or your supervisor should have a way to keep your headset to his locked drawer instead. That is what we do when I was still an agent. By the time I was ready to leave them, I found out that the headset that I was using for like 2 years is not my headset and the serial number is not accountable to my name. But since I submitted the headset even though it is not really mine technically they didn't deducted the amount of the headset to my back pay. The next time, you should leave it to your Team Leader because somehow they are all accountable for your sake. They should all be taking care of their agents.

the manager I spoke with about my headset doesn't care about it. He just told me that I am responsible about it and I had sign the agreement when they gave it to us. I was really disappointed when I heard this although he is right when he told me this but he doesn't seems to care about me and that's one of the reasons for me leaving my company.

So you left the company just because of that? Well i really cannot blame you because even that simple things they really cannot manage how much more if it will involve your credibility when you were going to be put in a situation between you and the client. they would definitely not be on your side 100%. Eventhough they have let you sign an accountability slip, they should be able to provide you with a storage of that headset. I am really sorry because 4,000 pesos is really a big amount of money especially if it is Plantronics which is 50 pesos more than the said amount and if it is then you probably have worked for teletech.

But that was not of companies fault as well most companies do the same while employees damage or loose property of the company. if they do not handle with strictly they shall loose much of their assets.

Hi, sad about what happened to you, but I don't think you have any choice, the company will hold you responsible and you will definitely have to pay for it. How long have you been with the company? maybe you should have checked with your officemates or superior about the ways you can secure your headset if you don't have any lockers yet or maybe asked them if you can keep your headset in one of their lockers. I hope they will not charge you too much for the headset.

That also happened to me back in 2008. I worked in a call center for almost two years. It was not even my fault to exchange my headset to a newbie. I asked the admin to look for my headset but they did not find it. before I had my clearance,I left that headset (of the newbie) in my locker. When I had to surrender it, it was already gone. Basically, I payed for it. Php4,000 was deducted from my backpay.. They can't even trace who took my headset,or that newbie's headset. to think that there were cameras all over the locker room..

That is not fair. The company should do something, like conduct an investigation. They do not want thieves to be working in there. I am sure one of your co-workers lost his or her headset and did not want to pay for it, so the fool chose to steal yours rather than pay for it. Be careful next time because there obviously is a thief in your office. What is he going to steal next?

Very sorry for what happened to you, and if in the start of a new job these type of things happen then it becomes very difficult to manage, however, it happened and you have to bear it. I think best solution for this is to write complain to the company and request for personnel locker. The other thing about the new head set, keep it with your senior in her locker for the safe use. As the company provided me a property, so I am responsible for the protection of it, and if any damage done to it, it is due to my fault, so in that case I ll have to pay but I ll write a complain to the company and ll tell them the reason and ll make request for providing necessary things for protection of property...:) Have a good day...:)

Hi, Sad to hear about this bad incident happened to you. Since the headset get lost...there must be someone stole it from the locker. If your company asked you to compensate the headset, then you have the right to ask for locker to keep your things in the safe place. Because of the company not able to provide you own locker and temporary you have to keep it at the public locker, then your company can't blame you when it gets lost. Or else, you can suggest to let your team manager to keep the headset for you,so at least, you are not responsible for it again in future when it get lost.
