Sipping black, green or oolong teas daily prompts your body to churn out 5 times as many infection-zapping proteins as a non-tea drinkers. Here is the immunity boosting secret: Caffeinated teas is a top source of L-theanine, an amino acid that turbocharges your body's T cells-white blood cells that release those powerful disease-fighting proteins. For the biggest benefit, sip 2 1/2 cups daily.

I heard that both coffee and tea have anti-oxidant effect. Personally, I prefer Green Tea. It is goes down easier. I also heard that it is better to drink tea hot not cold.

Chinese believe that some food are heaty and while others are cold. For example, meat is heaty and cucumber is cooling (Maybe that's why the saying is "Cool as a cucumber" but I digress). What I understand if you drink tea when it is cold, it will be full of "wind". In the long run it will affect your joints and cause pain as we grow older. That seems to be the believe for Chinese tea (or Oriental tea). Am not sure if the same applies for western tea.

Hi Nadinest! I'm more a coffee drinker. But your informative post has been quite convincing. Perhaps I should start drinking tea from now on to boost my immunity. Thank you!

if you could replace a cup of coffee for tea in the morning and do the same thing at night...you would, have the 2+ cups in 1 day. Good luck....I know what you are going through....I am a coffee drinker too.

I sometimes drink tea. About 2 cups only. I dislike its taste but as what i have just heard it's good for the health. So i wanted to get use to it's taste. Yet, i can't drink tea everyday. I can only drink two or three times a week. this is a good info.
