Is now too early to get Christmas presents?

November 5, 2010 4:09pm CST
I'm usually very disorganised about presents at christmas time so I was just wondering whether it was cheaper to buy them now or closer to the date? Do shops raise or lower prices due to much more demand at Christmas? So, when do you normally buy your presents?

It's never too early to start Christmas shopping! Ok, to an extent it is..lol I don't have my Christmas shopping finished in July or anything like that but I have been known to pick an item up in the middle of the year if I find the perfect gift! I have a few things already picked up for people on my list. I do most of my Christmas shopping in November and December though. That's when I find it's the most fun. I love Christmas shopping when the stores are playing holiday music, Santa is in the mall and it's snowing outside!

Haha yeah I loved the stereotypical scene of Christmas but unfortuantely it doesn't snow much here in England and when it does it barely covers the ground. I hoping to one day be able to make a snowman and live my childhood wish=D

I love to be organised for Christmas because it means saving money and not shopping with all the crowds. There are good sales in the middle of the year when I like to buy my kids presents - only you have to have some good hiding spots!

Wow right in the middle of year, now that is organised! Well, I've already passed that stage now but I may still save by buying now as opposed to mid-december. We don't have any kids here - fortunately, I'm not too great at remembering where I've placed things I've hidden!

I've been buying presents abit at a time since the start of october to be able to afford it better and get it all done in time before christmas so that its not too late. I do enjoy getting the presents abit at a time too and early so that we have time to think of what we are getting and not rush into it all soo close to christmas.

Now is the best time ever to start buying. BLack fridays are more trouble than they are worth unless you really enjoy getting up at dawn and standing in lines. But I have seen the sales lately and they are great now...JCPenny, Macys, Kohls...that's pretty much where I look (other than target and walmart) and they have the great one day sales on saturdays and weekends, so lower prices and sales...do it now. THey will start to go back up closer you get to christmas as athey want to grab the late shopper... gotta have a gift, so they raise the price....supply and demand! Buy now, save money and be done with it!

I think it is never too early to shop for christmas presents. I know a lot of people who shop all year round as they see things they like and think some one else would like. You know, sometimes when you are shopping you might see something that reminds you of someone or you think, so and so would like that, or that would look good on so and so.....so you buy it then with the thought of giving it to them for christmas. I have done that a few times. Now it is christmas season coming upon us again, another year and another christmas. I am sure you managed to get through last year and you will again this year. Just remember to give from the heart and then it doesn't really matter what the gift is or the price of the gift. I have finished my shopping for this year and it is Nov. 13th today. I don't buy much for presents as most of my family members, nieces and nephews, are over 18 and you put a cap on it at 18 years old. So I only had my own two children, adult children, and my daughter inlaw and my granddaughter and my mom, to buy for. Cheers and Happy mylotting my friend Chris

i shop all year round when there are sales but lately it seems that people dont have a lot of cash to shop so retailers drop their prices to entice people.

not at all. the sooner you start, the less percentage per pay packet you lose. it's much easier to only lose a little bit each month than to lose a lot over one or two months.

Its great if throughout the year when you find things on sale if you have a place to store them away for when the holidays come. Once the holidays roll around a lot of times there isnt sales in the stores so you have to pay full price for all the presents. Thats the mistake I make every year is waiting until the last minute. I just went to a place that sells liquidation items and got a few things for Christmas for my kids and my neice and nephew. It saved me a little money and the gifts are nice.

I start shopping for Christmas presents in July. Then I wait for the last minute to get the sales. You will have to keep on the look out for sales at Christmas time.Don't forget cyber Monday.
