I have seen strange things in my life but this was the strangest thing I had ever seen. We were driving down a busy hwy and there in the middle of the road was someones pet cat sitting on the yellow lines. Didn't know what to do, so we drove on down the road. We turned around to see if it got out of the road but it was still sitting there in the middle of the road. Traffic going 60 miles and hour down the road and it just sat there. Didn't know what to do. What would you have done? Would you have just went on about your business? Would you have stopped?

I do sympathise, I really do. I've never known that to happen either but I must admit, it does seem likely that the cat was abandoned by a passing motorist as I don't think he/she would choose to sit in the middle of the road like that. It's a tough one; I agree. I would like to think that my hubby would stop the car but, like you say, the traffic you were in was travelling at 60mph which is only 10mph less than our motorways over here. I understand totally the predicament you were in.

I have noticed this many of times when i'm in other peoples cars... as i don't have one myself. After quite a few crashes in the UK years ago there is now a law about it though. If you are likely to crash and cause harm to alot of people by swerving out the way of animals in the road.. you are meant to carry on so you do not cause harm to lots of other drivers on the road and hope that the animal will move out of the way.

Hi Joey. Sorry you don't have your own vehicle. The cat did get out of the road. It is dangerous to get out of the way of animals to keep from hitting them. Thanks for sharing.

Slow down, find out if it is a lost pet, if there are no homes around, I wwould pick it up and take to an orphanage for such pets so that it gets a new life. Many motorists destroy pets on roads-I feel this is cruel.

Hi Academic. There were several homes near. I hate it when motorists runs over animals in the road. Our dog a few years ago ran out in the road and a motorists ran right over him. It looked like they sped up when they seen him in the road. They must have seen us running out to the road to save him but we were too late. They didn't even stop they just sped up and drove off. They were going so fast neither of us could see the tag number.
