Discussion Writing

November 7, 2010 6:26am CST
Usually I only tend to discussion every now and then, as I like to try and post one's which will interact with people. The odd day I might think of two or three things worthy of starting a discussion, mostly I tend not too but I was wondering this morning after checking my E-Mails why there seems to be a lack of members posting. It could very well be that some only come on every now and then or some just don't post discussions very often. What are you reasons to not start a discussion and how often do you actually make them on a general basis? I'm hoping it's more of a case of people are busy, as I personally don't mind responding to similar discussions etc. I know a few of my friends don't post due to this reason, although it's expected with a large community such as mylot. In my opinion it's how they spice the discussion/dress it up which makes a HUGE difference. Happy Mylotting, ~Joey

Right now, I have two forums to attend with to make more money. From time to time I really want to post a new discussion not started by any other people from those forums and I like it more if I research about the topic I wanted to talk about and share to other people here in mylot. I really like the way people make comments here because they really explain whats on their mind not like on the other site which they only post to make money.

I think there's the same issue on most communities, even those which don't pay. I'm used to seeing people posting none sense to increase their post count or for other agendas. Mylot is certainly different and people do tend to put a lot more effort here, it does sadden me when I see someone here who doesn't appreciate their responses or posts very short or confusing comments back but generally I find most people will respond very effectively which makes it enjoyable to hear what they have to say. Thanks for your response Ellyse :)

Well, i love to start discussions. I am more into starting discussions rather than responding to other. The reason is that i don't see much of discussions which i can respond to. Normally i start minimum of 3 discussions everyday. Happy mylotting. Thanks for your response.

Hi joey_matthews, if I'm not mistaken I haven't started any new discussion for a year or so Firstly I don't have considerable time to take care my discussion to write comment in every response box. The situation would be worse if having more responses in the same discussion. It would make me to feel uneasy as I want to but lack of sufficient time. I feel relaxed and enjoy responding to discussions which interest me. I don't have any burden at all and as free as breeze, for there isn't any worry I have to comment back to the responses received. It's really fortunate that there are still many friends here who have sufficient time as well as good in writing news posts every now and then. And giving good opportunity for us to share whatever we have together in the post Happy posting

I haven't started many lately because I just do not have time. I have been playing on a sports team and have a game every week and lots of practice sessions, so there is less time to sit at the computer. Also I try to reply to all of the discussions started by my friends first and then sometimes there is no free time left after.

hi joey--matthews I only post when I have a strong idea for a discussion as I do not want to have too many posts out at one time and not be able to comment to all of them. I do a lot of responding and commenting as opposed to writing discussions.I love to try to respond to all my friends well as ma ny as I can anyway. I try very hard not to make any discussions that are like anyone else's.

THe reasons for starting a discussion is to get a better view on issues I cannot understand or would like advise on. Sometimes I start a discussion on something I may be going though or because someone close to me is going through something. For me.. starting a discussion is never a problem.. I am finishing a degree in Psychology and Sociology so what I gather from mylot can ultimately help me in the long run.. personally and career wise I also hope that by creating a discussion I can help other's who might have a question about something I have introduced.

I'd like to think that I have a life outside of myLot that's why I don't come here as often as I should. And although I think of discussions while I'm away, I also have to think of ways to, as you say, 'dress up' the discussion because I'm pretty sure that most of the things I think of have already been discussed here. It's just a matter of making it different, to make it more interesting, and maybe get a few responses.

I would definitely start a discussion when I have an interesting topic to talk about and I want to share with my online fellow members. It should be a selfish act if I don't share a good topic with online members here. Good stuff should be shared, isn't it?

I have developed a long list of friends here on myLot and find that most of my time logged on I am responding to their messages and no time left for more. However I have noticed a lack in discussion on their behalf and many veterans as well. I believe my friends are away and or busy. The veterans I believe have signed up elsewhere as the groups that stick together are not as active and this I have noticed for about 2 - 3 weeks. I try not to start many discussions because each time I attempt I see a similar duplicated at least 4 times in that day. Too many repeats and well I do not need to contribute. I have also noticed that I am watched as a hawk by some members, those that intentionally negative me and no reason as I have never been negative in any discussion and those who discuss my progress on here. Some deliberately report very legitimate discussions and well let's just say 4 out of 5 do not get deleted. So it is a bit of a chore for me daily as I have been fighting my feelings on here. I truly enjoy the loads of positive responses and BR I get but then the trolls on a daily basis continue to hunt me. I am satisfied with how much I do and at the end of the day I sleep well with me. But to come back and see some activity go figure I suppose people are just plain mean.

I only try to post some discussions to questions that are more technical. For me, I love commenting rather than posting things that are not worth it. ;)
