I am not afraid of dogs,In fact I am a big lover of Dogs and I have got four dogs at our place. Since I am a Veterinarian and I had a private clinic for dogs when I have started my career, I dealt with many dogs of various temperaments and breeds. I was against tying the mouths of dogs while giving injection to them. Because of this , I had many bites on my hands as their mastered couldn't handle them properly while giving injection to them. But I was never worried about these bites as all the dogs coming to me were already vaccinated against Rabies. My son when he was about 7 or 8 years he was bitten by a Dog in a bad way. He was given immediate treatment for that. But then because that my son never developed any fear or phobia about Dogs. He loves our Dogs As much as we do , rather being young he loves to play more with them. Thus in my opinion your brother must have developed some sort of phobia about the Dogs after the incidence of biting, and must be finding it difficult to come out of it! He can get rid of this thing if he is willing to do so,by visiting any psychiatrist or Psychologist ! Thanks dear careguardian for starting a nice topic of discussion!

Yeah, my brother fear of dogs even if those dogs are friendly. good thing that your son haven't phobia of dogs even if he bite dogs when he is only 7 years old. I cant imagine how brave your son when dogs bite him. better to be vaccinated even if your dogs injected anti rabbies to make sure that our health is safe. Well, thanks for sharing your comments with us and have a nice day ahead Godbless

Dogs are of varieties, there are the cute ones and the mean ones. Depending on the breed of dog and how they are being taken care of, it is how I will react or get close to them. There are nasty dogs that even for a distance they will bark at you and will never stop intimidating you...these are the kinds of dogs which I am afraid of... By just their look alone, I will never get too close if I see that the dog is nastier than I think it is. I do love dogs and have been wishing to have a pet someday if my kids are already capable of having a pet dog around. From your shared story, yes if you are bitten by a dog, it is somewhat traumatic and you will remember always not to fool around when dogs are around. Lucky for me that I have not yet bitten by a dog though.

You are right Melcaden. Those dogs barking us are those dogs we are afraid of because there is one time that me and my friend walking on the street and there was a dog that follow us and bark us. We afraid that time, and when we run the dog also run and we think the dog will bite us, so we run fast and get inside the nearest house even if we didn't know the owner of the house as long as we are safe. After that, we realize that if we run, the dog trigger to run over us.Sometimes, there are dogs who are very silent and bootan. No, I'm not. But, I grew up around dogs, so for me, they were always pets and I thought of them as playmates. I didn't have the experience your brother had.

I am one of those people who are dog fanatics and when I was little, I can deny the fact that I was scared of their barks which makes me hate them but now, if you have some clues that dogs like you in some ways, your fright will lessen :D

according to the other people who loved dogs, dogs are friendly in such way that only few can understand their attitude. But sometimes, we cannot deny the fact that we are afraid of dogs just like the big dogs that if you see, they really eat us. Good for you because you are not afraid anymore of dogs. Well, thanks for sharing your comments with us and have a nice day ahead Godbless

I am not afraid of dogs. I love dogs and I understand them, that's why I know how to read their signs of aggression and I know when and how to react. I know there are people who are afraid of dogs. I have a neighbour who is terrified when he sees dogs. I tried to convince him to pet Nera, my previous dog, who was the most calm and gentle dog I've ever seen. But he didn't want to. He couldn't stand the idea of being in the presence of a dog. I think people like this neighbour of mine need medical help to overcome this problem. Your brother should seek for specialized help, too, it's not normal to freeze when you hear a dog barking.

There are ways to get people to be less afraid of dogs, the same way to get anyone over any fear and that is slowly. Starting off with a dog that is well-known as gentle is a good start. Though he does need to always respect dogs, especially ones he doesn't know, but if he wants to get over his fear, I am sure there is someone who can help you. As for myself, the only dog I was afraid of was a German Shepherds and this is because a neighbors German Shepherd bit me when I was a kid. This didn't affect me with other dogs because we had dogs at home and I always have been around dogs. Also, if your brother is willing to learn about dogs and why they do certain things, then he can also be at ease when a dog does something that looks aggressive, but isn't. For example, some dogs bark, but just because they bark, it doesn't mean they bite.

NO i love dogs and this is in spite of my mum having face bitten, she had a hole an one side of mouth and needed plastid surgery, she still adores dogs and so do i, but i do teach my other children to be careful never to stroke a dog with out the owners permission, and never stroke a dog with out an owner there no matter how friendly it seems, as the dog who bit my mum was friendly and was the pet of my mums friend, but I am not afraid if dogs and adore them too.
