In searching for the status of a package I'm waiting on, I found that some unscrupulous bastid is using our faith in the U.S. Postal Service to scam unsuspecting people. The above link will take you to the USPS website where they warn us what NOT to do!!! It seems the Post Office does NOT send emails concerning package deliveries. This should be a no-brainer as how would they know your email address??? The same goes for phone calls. So, if you're contacted by the Post Office via email or phone, just delete or ignore & then call your local branch to discuss your delivery. They won't know what you're talking about as it wasn't them that tried to contact you, but you will NOT have given away any of your personal information by accident!!! Have you been contacted by the fake Post Office & how did (or would) you handle it???

Wow amazing on how scams are becoming more end more lucrative. Although many of us are smart enough to delineate one scam from another there are those that for a split second can lose their train of thought and freely give out their information.
I am so sorry when people do this and it is not out of ignorance as who would think a certain company's name would be utilize to scam the public. UGH..

I find it sad that the incoming generation feel that it is OK to STEAL from those who have worked hard their entire life!!! My Dad is far from ignorant; however, he is 87 years old & his brain doesn't work as well as it used to. When he was growing up & raising a family, the Post Office was to be trusted. On top of that they start out asking the easy questions. Even knowing better, I can see how easy it would be to give out a little more info than you think you are. If these scammers would focus their energies on a "real" job, they could be CEO's & run major corporations earning millions of dollars a year!!! I just wonder WHY they think they are entitled to take money away from people who are willing to work for a living???

Hi my good buddy! Please tell me that this didn't happen to you
and you are just doing us a good service? I just don't understand
why it gets worse every day just trying to be ourselves, use
the "Net", talk to our friends, get our business done, read
our mail without having to worry about being scammed! It really
makes me so angry and upset that we have to worry about this
too! We have so many things to worry about these days that we
can't even order something online and not worry about our identity
being stolen or the package itself? I do alot of online shopping
and online paying of bills! I hate the way this world has become!
Now they have to check every damn package to make sure it is
"just a package" and not BOMB! Take care my sweet LadyM and try
not to get to upset~ Love ya, Les

Calm down Leslie!!!
NO, this did NOT happen to me!!!
I do a good bit of online shopping too. The company I ordered from gave me a tracking number & I was verifying that it had actually been shipped. On the home page for USPS they had a prominent ALERT & I followed it to see what the latest scam is. When I read it, I decided to make this my community service for the day & share the information with myLot!!! I believe if we forewarn our friends then maybe we can STOP one or more from being scammed. I always call my Dad & warn him of this kind of stuff. He's 87 & I worry that he won't realize that somebody is asking a lot of nosy questions. I hope that by warning him, that if he receives one of these calls, he'll remember to just hang up!!!!
