Have you ever been on a holiday that changed your life?

I was and when I look back at it, I couldn't help but thank God for giving me the opportunity to be there. I was travelling around the Philippines and visited a village of aetas (native tribes). I stayed in the village for a night and was able to see the simplicity of life they're living and how content they are for what they have, saying they have the loved ones surrounding them, what else could they want? Despite living in abject poverty, they were always smiling and showing each other that they care. Needless to say, I was so touched. When I got back home, I sold half of my wardrobe to friends and used the funds to buy basic commodities and gave it to the village. That made me realize that we, the more fortunate ones when it comes to material blessings, have an obligation to share what we have to our brothers and sisters who need them more. After that experience, I began to volunteer my time and sometimes money to different charitable organizations, and I've never been happier.

Yes, I have, in fact I'd say most of the holidays of my childhood and youth were life-changing, but most life-changing of all were those I spent in Spain when I was in my teens and early 20s; they are with me forever.

Great to know you've enjoyed and gotten something good from your holidays. Most experiences we have had contribute to what we are now, I guess. Continue enjoying life to the fullest!

Hi dear, I am extremely happy that you have come with such a nice topic. I cannot tell that I have totally changed after returning from holidays trips. But there are major influences happens to the mind and the way of thinking. Not only just after such a trip, after watching some movies, after having some discussions, after some readings, after some programs in TV, and above all, my self thinking about our humanity. Sometimes there are some programs in TV, that even we cannot imagine, about such programs. People generally say TV is an idiot box, but if we categories some channels and their programs, it is much worthier than the direct feelings. There are a lot of peoples hard work and effort behind such programs. I am not pointing out any specific one, but there are heart melting scenes that has already telecasted. I like travel and used to observe many things while I am on the trips. Unfortunately, I couldn't make a remarkable one due to my personal circumstances. But I can imagine and my imagination is far beyond and always think about the life surrounded to it. In fact you did a great job and we should understand how our fellow people are living and what is the real life for them. Only a minor percentage of people are living with higher standards and the rest are living just as they born over here. Some old aged, children, orphans, widows and unaided ladies, abandoned etc. are everywhere and we never sees them because all are busy with their own life and in a hurry to make good life. No one bothered of others and all are very much involved in making money and 'doing good for others'. I always feel very bad on our system what prevails here. But we have our own limitations. I can just open with my imaginations and I used to write all my feelings on the diaries and cherish my desire along with the people who are destined to live, as only they are happened to born and live. I always thank you for the change in you and what you have identified is a fact and I really appreciate that there are people now lives among us. I salute you, who ever you are and whatever you are, any way you didn't even shown your face also in your 'avtar' in myLot. My sincere thanks to you for your humble though on our humanity. Best regards, Thank-s

Thank you, my friend, for your generosity of compliments. It makes me feel more encouraged to what I love doing. Life has been really good to me and I just want to give back what I owe life. I'm sure you also have your share of doing good deeds for other people. It doesn't really matter if it's a big or small thing. What matters is our intentions. Again, thank you for your comments, and may God bless you.

Hi dear, It is nice to hear from you. As you said, we have few years of life here to live. Understanding is the best lesson and I do try understand many things from the nature. The nature is the God for me and we have everything in the nature, what we really looking for and whatever we want to learn, all are there in the nature around. I am sure that I love the things to do, which give me satisfaction. In my way of thinking, there are so much of things to say. But it is not able to say all here. However, as being a good friend over here in myLot, you will be one of my best friend here, having same way of thinking. Please be around. I can easily make out you among others, because you are looking out to the nature. Regards, Thank-s

to be honest with you, not really... it is good that you are able to gain so much invaluable experience on your holiday... your story really touch me a lot... and you are right... if we are blessed more by God materially, we should share it with those people who are more unfortunate than us... thanks for reminding me again of this fact from your post... take care and have a nice day...

Maybe you have done some things that made the lives of other people easier, but you don't know it. It doesn't have to be very big. What matters, I think, is that we care and that we don't do things intentionally to hurt others especially the vulnerable. I am happy I have somehow made people think about sharing. Thanks for your response. Be blessed!

Reading this post made feel to happy too. I am also a young adult who wants to travel the whole Philippines. I just imagined, maybe one of my travel would mean so much to me. This is a worth holiday vacation that happens in your life. I can say I am fortunate of what I have and i thank God for those. I don't have enough money but I have enough heart to offer a prayer for those less fortunate people. I know how it feels. May God blessed you more to be a blessing to them.

As they say, its what's in your heart that counts. If you have good intentions, people will appreciate it more than they would appreciate money (well, for most). May God bless you too, fellow Pinay!

That's a nice way to spend a holiday. I admire your concern to other people. The world needs more people like you to help it grow to be a better place. Sadly, the more fortunate ones are just overwhelmed with their cravings and nothing more.

Thanks,my friend, but I'm sure we can all help one another in small ways. We don't have to have money to show we care for others. Sometimes all we need is time.

I went to Italy for a weekend. I was amazed about how beautiful it is, how friendly people are, what style they have. I love everything.. food, culture, architecture, people, history, design. I came back home with love for this country, I started to learn the language and I have spend over a year in Italy alter living, enjoying my life and making amazing relationship with people over there. I deeply love Italy and I am looking forward going there again.

Hi dear, Where in Italy? Even one of my friend is there she is settled now. She is a doctor and got married to a Italian guy (both are doctors) and they have one cute daughter also. They came down here in the last summer. Her name is Sicily Mathews. Even I don't know where exactly they are in Italy. They have explained about the place and I feel like visiting there. But unfortunate, I don't think I can do it in this life time. Regards, Thank-s
