Economic Systems and Freedom

Capitalism does have it's weaknesses and drawbacks, but is there any other economic system that promotes freedom as well as Capitalism?
All of the systems based on Marxism require force of government. Communism only seems to work if the people are forced to remain in the country, with few outsiders allowed in. Socialism doesn't seem to come with the iron curtain mentality, but still requires the participants to let others decide their "need" from their "excess"... and with all the "fairness" and "equality" rhetoric, those making the decisions seem to have more "need" than anyone else.
True Anarchy (as opposed to what most people envision when the hear the word) would probably come the closest. However, there is little to no recourse when one or more of the participants decides they don't want to participate.
For all economic and government sytems, I have this question. Kind of my "litmus test" of individual freedom.
"What (if anything) interfers with your freedoms?
In the Marxist based systems, it's the people in charge of deciding what a person's "needs" are and what is "excess".
In Anarchy it's basically "who dares wins", meaning that whoever is unable or unwilling to defend themselves, probably won't last long against those willing to take it.
In capitalism, there are no built in limits. The individual gets to decide what to go for or what to stay away from. No guarantees means there is no limit to success or failure.

No doubt that I much prefer capitalism and its freedom. I remember when I was growing up and saw photos of the people living in the communist countries, USSR, Red China, etc I was always struck by how sad and stern the people were. Everything seemed so gray and sad never any joy or happiness expressed by the people. I would never want to live like that.

In any socio - political setup balance is key. In fact the father of the study of politics and the state, Aristotle said that there is no perfect government or system only one that best suits its people.

True, there is no perfect one, and the system should "best" suit the people. Capitalism is no exception to that. Personal freedom is best maintained when the government, the community and the people work together. Communism can't exist without the government exerting too much power over the people. Socialism is the community exerting too much power over the people. Capitalism, regulated by government, with social standard set by the community is best to maintain personal freedom.

I would always choose Capitalism, hands down. This, in my opinion, IS the "American Dream". The ability to make something out of nothing. There are enough countries that embrace socialism, and marxism. If you are that set on the government giving you you bathroom schedule, fee free to go.

I perfer Capitalism. There is a lot more freedoms. Yes is there is the chance to fail...but you also get the chance to succeed. It all depends on your abilities and decision making.
