I have just re-read the first chapter of Genesis and was reminded of the awe of Creation! This chapter is not about evolution or science or philosophy. It is the story of God's great joy in creating. We are not here accidentally, but by the design and joy of the Creator!

I know what you mean! Whenever I read the first and second chapters of Genesis, I'm reminded of what love and care God took to create the universe. He could have just said "Let everything be created!" and it would have been so. But he took care and lovingly created everything in steps, making sure that everything was good before going on to the next thing. God is so good. I love him so!

You might enjoy reading something that I read recently, about why God created the Earth.
What is God’s purpose? Learn when suffering will end and how paradise on earth will be restored in the future, as well as who will live in that paradise.

Did you catch verse 28 where God told Adam and Eve to REPLENISH the earth? That means that there was human life on earth PRIOR to Adam and Eve...can't replenish something that wasn't plenished in the first place.....hum....

Here is the text of chapter 1, verse 28: “Be fruitful and multiply and fill the earth and subdue it and have dominion over the fish of the sea and over the birds of the heavens and over every living thing that moves on the earth.”

The original King James Version (the one that hasn't been altered and adjusted for "easier" reading (supposedly) over the years like so many versions have been) says... "And God blessed them, and God said until them, Be fruitful and multiply and REPLENISH the earth and subdue it: and have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air and over every living thing that moveth upon the earth." That is what God said, not some guys who "re-worded" the bible like they did with the "New American Standard" and those other versions. KJV is the one to read. Case in point..the version you are reading was obviously not "re-worded" exactly from the KJV as "fill" does not mean the same thing as "replenish". They can replace or "substitute for easier reading", "foul of the air" with "birds of the heavens" and "moveth upon the earth" can be rephrased as "that moves on the earth", but you can't replace a word with a totally different word that doesn't even mean the same thing...if what you type above is what the verse says. They l totally changed what the verse said thereby changing what the verse meant. And if they did it in one verse...you can bet the farm, they did it in most all the rest of the verses. King James version is the best. People were re-writing the Bible to be "politically correct" long before "politically correct"ness became the "in" thing to do!

God actually told Adam and Eve to FILL the earth with their offspring. Which Bible translation uses the word REPLENISH?

You are absolutely right. Those that say wer evolved, have never read a bible, and probably never heard of one either. We didn't just evolve, that is for sure, as we were created by God in his image. It is amazing how he started with nothing, and ended up creating man. What an awesome God we serve, and it is a pleasure to serve Him forever. Take care, and have a very good day.

@IreneVincent I will read it later, but I am thankful that God created the earth and everything in it. We can see his handework all around us, and when we see the beauty, we know that they were pur here by a higher power. The beauty of the earth, will never compare to the way it will be in the new earth. Flowers were never die, no thorns, or thistles, or weeds for that matter. That will be great, as I hate weefds, and have to fight them every year.

Very awesome chapter indeed! I also like Isaiah 40 and the chapters in Job that describe creation. Actually I'm working on a study guide about all the creation passages!

Aye! Right on ErrollLeVant! There are also many interesting things in that first chapter. Verse 1 - the word for God is Elohim, plural, but the verb for create is in the singular! One God, as Father Son and Holy Spirit. Reading some more, there was light hitting the earth before the is mentioned as being created! Really interesting! I think one of the greatest things to read in that chapter is that we were made in His image. Wonderful! Loving!

technically hebrew doesnt speak like english. if it is plural there are more than one..plain and simple. but if there are 10=more than one, and they think the same way and have agreed with one another in mind...hebrew would describe their action as singular, even though there are many of them. as the gods said= "let *US* make man in *OUR* image after *OUR* likeness...that is not the father and son...that is a multitude. how hebrew speaks..there are many gods=yet they work together for the same purpose. hebrew says=gods created the heavens and world.....plural...but their action was in accord with one another so the action is described as singular

nope. You are definitely wrong here too. Reference: God Spake by Moses written by Oswald T. Allis. Other TRUE Hebrew scholars point to the FACT that such plural nouns constructed with a verb in the singular definitely point to monotheism. So, what are you doing now? Looking up every where I posted on MyLot to attempt to contradict? On some forums that is called trolling.

technically the book you call genesis in english is about creation and science speaks of this very thing. science calls this the big bang theory, because science says...the energy of atoms doesnt build up..it just appears! they say the energy to create a planet did not build up over time, since they observed the protons, neutrons and electrons. but they find that the energy just appears out of nowhere and then a planet is born. even as the creator says=be light! and what does it say afterwards......he is light! in other words, showing that it just appeared out of nowhere, in an instant. and that is what science calls the big bang theory. secondly, the process of evolution is right there! do you not see how in one verse it says in the book called genesis chapter 1:20 that animals were created from the waters. but in the book called genesis 2:19 we see that the creatures were created out of the earth. of course this can be debated, but i am hebrew, and hebrew scriptures says these things plainly. at first creatures were created from the waters, and then secondly the creatures were created from the earth. evolution is there...but religionists usually deny this because they neither understand hebrew scriptures, nor the power of god. they base their knowledge on english translations...but the bible wasnt written in english originally

I am fully convinced of the power of God to create from nothing, but energy does not simply appear from nowhere, and science declares that. But some scientists try to deny the original first cause--God. I am also fully convinced in the power of God to preserve and proclaim the truth in his Scriptures and that it is not required to speak Hebrew in order to know the Truth.

So true! I love to read the account of Genesis! And am in awe of all he's created in the world and a universe of such intricate order.. especially family and marriage and the human smile, yet best of all, is Him!
