LONDON!!!! What do I do in this HUGE city?!?

November 8, 2010 6:43pm CST
I'm a student here, and when I first arrived I thought to myself, "wow, wow, WOW! I'm gonna be riding the London Eye every day and canoeing down the Thames with all my pals when the sun is sunny!" But now that uni has actually started... it's tough. I haven't the time to be the tourist I wanted to be. Is there anything that I should definitely not miss out on by the time uni ends? Anyone travelled here and can give some advise? What is your favourite thing to do in London? Are there many free events..? I mean, I know there are! But how do I get into them, and what lists/ways of hearing about them are there? Thanks for your help! I really wanna get out of the student library!!

Haha! I am studying hard! Had to spend the whole night up in the library recently. Tough. And if you would love to go London, try and make it happen! Couch surfing has much free accommodation available. I could find you somewhere. I look forward to reading a mylot post from you about London some time in the future. =) All the best. =)

There are some guides online to free stuff in London, you should check them out! And if you have not been to the British Museum yet, you need to go for sure, it is great! (the entrance is free and the museum is awesome!) I think there are other museums where the entrance is free as well, so you might want to look into that.

I had the same feelings. But once I started to study, 6 months past and I haven't seen much. I liked to get outside of London and see the real Great Britain, because in my mind London is extremely touristic and pretty typical huge European city. You can do the same things there, in Milan, in Stockholm or in Berlin. By dont You socialize with locals or with the ones who have been enough there, so they can assist you with advice and show neat places. Maybe you should join a group at the university or local club. Because people do take as to places.

Yea, time passes so fast. I'm a year and a half through almost, and I only just realized that I don't even know what is in Notting Hill, or what is in the Natural History Museum! And I live really close to those!! It's crazy. I think I will check out something like a "lonely planet guide book" and flick through it. I mean, London is special, many people dream of going there and I'm here. Right here. Don't want to take it for granted. =) Hope you enjoy going outside London! England is amazing, I should see more of it. I want to go to the seaside more often! It's such an english cliche for a holiday! =D Where have you been so far then? You sound well informed! =) Anything specific you could advise..? Or just go and explore and let the things find me?
