coalition and have been very much dependable voters. Yet this dependability has yielded this voting block very little to speak of. With the latest fire storm over don't ask don't tell being ruled unconstitutional you would think that the new supposedly homosexually tolerant executive branch would have just told the judicial department to call of the dog and the defense department to start making necessary changes but that has not been the case. Strangely AG Holder advanced with the appeals asking for an injunction even though Defense Dept secretary Gates said that the military should do way with DADT. So with all the angry toward the Obama administration and the Democratic controlled Congress by proxy an undetected revolt happened. More homosexual voter voted GOP this year than ever before. In comparison 31% of the self-described homosexual voter voted GOP oppose to in 08 when only 19% of them voted GOP. Is this a shift in long term voting blocks, no I doubt that. What is interesting though is that a sizable portion of this voting block feeling taken advantage of one too many times left to vote for the party that has outright hostility towards them. Talk about a new case of the battered voter syndrome. http://www.foxnews.com/politics/2010/11/06/gop-gains-traction-gay-voters-focusing-economy-analyst-says/

Haven't you considered that just maybe not all gay people are single issue voters? If you look more closely you might even see that many of those gay people who stopped voting democrat are voting for more libertarian republicans like many tea party candidates that actually want the government to stay out of the bedroom and focus on being fiscally conservative rather than socially conservative.

Associating the Tea party and libertarianism now that is funny. Yes, yes homosexually should not be considered single issue voter just like any other group should be considered but still I wouldn't except a capitalist to vote for a Marxist either.

When voters get frustrated, they do tend to think of alternative ways they can send a message with their votes. I suppose that is what some of the 'new' GOP voters were doing. Really though, I do not understand why they are stopping don't ask, don't tell. What is the alternative that people are after? My understanding of don't ask don't tell was that the chosen lifestyle was not an issue and not a hindrance - no problem with commanding officer or military overall. Under that scenario, I do not know what happened if someone wanted to be telling and sharing with others. Is that the issue, that DADT forced a homosexual people to be quiet?

Thanks for the clarification. So, all was cool, as long as everything remained quiet. Not in the sense of orientation, but would not a heterosexual couple be in trouble if caught also?
