Most of us always buy a loaf of bread when we go to the local grocery store whether it be white bread, wheat bread or some other type of bread. When you return home from the grocery store are you ready to make a sandwich? Do you eat the heel? Most people I know throw that away but I find it to be a waste of money and food. What do you think? Do you throw it out?

I don't throw it out. I do believe it's a waste. I toast it until it's crunchy and smother it with butter. Heels make great crunchy toast and besides, it tastes the same as the rest of the entire loaf.

I usually dont throw the heel out if I eat it I toast it. If not I live in florida by the beach so the sea gulls usually get a meal from me about once a week of old bread, cereal etc types of food they can eat. They are always hungry so I try to make it once a week to the beach to feed them. I am not as crazy about buying loafs of bread as I am fresh homemade baked bread. I love to make my own bread. My husband, however demands the preservative store bought bread. He likes them for sandwiches I seldom eat a sandwich. I like a slice of fresh warm bread with butter myself.

I love the heel of the loaf! I am the only one in the house who loves it so I keep them all in the fridge and use them for toast. I love them! If you saw how much of this kind of bread I have in the fridge you would be stunned! I don’t like wasting food either...
