The Obama Administration owns controlling interest in The New General Motors, with the rest of the ownership handed to the United Auto Workers Union. They have owned it for quite some time now.
For decades I've heard "Buy American, the Job You Save Might Be Your Own!" The Democrats and the unions have made it clear that if they were in charge, the jobs moved overseas would be brought back.
Well, you guys don't have to pass any laws making demands on other corporations, you OWN The New GM. So when can we expect you to put your jobs where your rhetoric is?
Or are govenment demands only for corporations NOT owned by you?

Ted, GM is a global company, and in some countries (like China) you have to have a partner in that country, and you have produce a certain amount of the vehicle in that country. That is why some production, and parts are still made in other countries. If they moved those jobs back to the US it would actually hurt the country because they couldn't sell cars in certain countries.
Ted, you have understand how trade works in the global economy. Take South Korea, we import 52 cars for ever 5 trucks that we can export. Does this sound fair to you? China imports less than 1% of what they export to us. Is this a fair trade agreement? I have no idea why this country has these horrible trade agreements, but it needs to change, and I don't see that happening with republicans in office. I have no idea why they love these horrible trade agreements, but they must be getting paid a lot of money to sell out their country.

That's simple. Obama snapped his fingers and General Motors Corporation was no more. He devalued the stock, ended contracts with suppliers, distributors and dealerships. However, he continued the contracts with the retirees.
In other words, he picked and chose what contracts he wanted to carry over to The New GM and unilaterally ended the ones he didn't want to be bothered with.
So, if he and the UAW really gave a crap about these jobs that were moved oversees (which they don't), they would have done what they could to bring jobs back.
Obama and the UAW were willing to rob GMC investors, creditors and suppliers, but apparently actually doing something constructive was just too much to ask.

Ted, ending the contracts with suppliers, distributors, and dealerships was done by GM when they provided the government their plan to turn around the company.
The jobs that you are talking about are there for a reason. I explained this to you, and if you don't want to understand, than that is YOUR problem.
What Obama did was save hundreds of thousands of jobs in a sector that republicans have finally found out is important. If Obama would have allowed Chrysler and GM to go under, unemployment would be double right now, and those would be high paying jobs being lost, not Wal-Mart jobs. I live in an area that has many of the big three factories, and you have no idea how many jobs are created by these factories (and nor do you care I am sure). Investors, creditors, and suppliers all know that there is risk in doing what they were doing, and I am sure all of them wrote off the loses, and have moved on. The nation as a whole is more important than a small group of people that made a bad investment, or business deal.
That is business; Live with it!!!

GM and Crysler were not saved. They are gone. Go to the GM website, it says plain as day "The New GM". General Motors Corporation was dissolved.
Crysler was forced into a merger with FIAT by fiat.
Neither company was "saved", GM was stolen by the Obama Administration, who kept controlling interest and gave the rest to the United Auto Workers Union.
That is NOT business, that is government corruption.

That's right, buy American - maybe 30% of the parts will actually be made in the USA.
I really have no use for Government Motors. I would not buy there, or recommend that anyone else does. The sooner obama's experiment fails, the better off we will be.
