Hi, myLotters, I'm not an american citizen but I'm curious to know what means this famous health care reform of the president Obama. I didn't read all the official explanations and don't care about them. I'd like to know what people think about it. So, please, share your opinion!

I'll do one better. Here is a copy of the bill (brew a pot of coffee and get comfortable, it's over 2000 pages long). You can read it and make your own determinations. http://www.opencongress.org/bill/111-h3200/text My biggest issue with it is the fact that the federal government is going to require every American to purchase health insurance. The problem is they do not have the authority to do this. It is another example of our federal government taking for itself, powers not delegated to it in our constitution. Then there is the inclusion of the IRS in the enforcement of it. Another issue I have with this particular bill is all the other junk they stuck in to it, like student loan provisions (and that is probably the most sensible of of pork they stuck in it, which isn't saying much). There aren't many in this country who think we don't need to do something about the cost of health care in the U.S. and make it available to more people. Right now, there are roughly 15 million people, out of a population of 300 million, who need/want the means to pay for health care but are lacking it. You would think it wouldn't be so complicated to come up with a simple means to accomplish this.

It is a very, VERY, watered down version of universal healthcare. It laid out a foundation for more work to be put into it. It is an incremental bill; the changes will take time to be fully enacted. A summary is that we will all enter into an exchange, so we can negotiate better rates with insurers, as does Congresspeople already. It makes it so people with preexisting conditions can receive care, no life time limits on care, they can't drop you if you get sick helps seniors with the "donut hole" on medicare, will give tax cuts to employers who insure their employees, doctors will have to publicly state if they receive money from pharmaceutical companies, etc. It is very detailed, and will be enacted fully by 2014. Most of the sane people in America want socialized healthcare, like Canada or the UK, or any other civilized nation has. The republicans, and conservatives think that "Obamacare" is leading us to socialism, communism, or sharia law. Some even say to "let them die" when referring to people without health insurance. This question may get some heated answers. Beware.
