How many of you guys prefer non mainstream music more than mainstream music?

I love classical musics. Classical music commonly tell the story of the author. Basically, it means to me that the songwriter is actually speaking to its audience. At the early age I was introduced to popular karaoke songwriters before - Air Supply, Queen, Elvis, Louis Armstrong etc. These songs are even older than me, but I still appreciate them so much. I would rather have a song that I can understand the every word in its lyrics. Classical music is like a fat homemade juicy steak wherein you can savor every bite while the modern music today are junk foods that you will then get fed up then throw it up since it will not satisfy your hunger, the hunger of your soul. Sometimes I think that these kinds of music just get popular because most of the popular kids think it is good. To avoid being left out, a person tends to force him/herself to like that music to go with the crowd and get the chance to become popular too. And so the influence starts. But what do I know? maybe their point of view is different from mine. Maybe there is also a good into these music.

I am! :) I usually don't really like pop/mainstream music, I prefer other styles instead, such as metal or EBM. For me it's really important that bands/solo artist write their own songs and that they actually play live instead of having playback, which unfortunately a lot of those mainstream artists don't do.
