If some rich guy owned all of the jeepneys and buses in our country...

...and raised the monthly earnings of their drivers and "konduktors", do you think their drivers would be more responsible and disciplined??? Also, if someone owned these transportation vehicles then wouldn't that mean that there would be less of these vehicles running around our streets?(and less traffic of course)

The solution is not to increase their earnings but by giving them a regular fixed salary. This will eradicate greed and they will not clog up the stops. Why should they, when they will be earning with or without passengers. It's that simple! I bet i was the first to say this with conviction!

If they are lazy to pick up passengers, then they will be fired. Drivers will be treated like ordinary employees in any company. If they don't perform, they go, and are replaced with another. So i don't think it's about discipline, because there are penalties.

Yes, to give them a fixed salary aside from the increase in their earnings is part of the suggestion. Now, I am wondering, what if this makes them lazy and not want to pickup any passenger when they do have a fixed earning??? Hmmm, it always depends on the person's discipline. The only way to find out is when someone actually tries it, no?

I think they would only be more disciplined if there was training that they had to do in order to get a job in that company.... and as for less vehicles... Well, that's not what we want! People would be out of jobs, and there's not enough jobs in fili as it is!! Not to mention that jeepney fares would go up... =( I only travelled to fili though, so I don't know exactly what kind of problems there are, but during the two months in total that I spent there, I really loved the jeepneys! But generally speaking, having one company own all of an industry is bad for employees and customers. Problems like discipline should be addressed with quality control measures. Like the police. =)

Yeah but fares would not go up if some rich dude owned all the jeepneys and gave it a fixed fare right? I'm not debating but I am trying to find out the many possibilities. :D I'm just daydreaming of owning all transportation modes IF ever I become filthy rich like Bruce Wayne or Lex Luthor lol

Discipline is a very individual thing-some drivers can never be disciplined, they continue along the reckless path endlessly

Sad but true :(

Drivers should have seminars on the traffic regulations and rule every now and then so they won't be forgetting it. A raise would help but i think it's within the drivers itself if they really wanted to be disciplined or not.

I don't know about the discipline but if there's only one owner then we have what we call monopoly which is not good for the customers.

I don't think these drivers will be more disciplined if they somehow get a raise. Because that would motivate them more so they will be more aggressive in "agawan ng pasahero". Thus will make the road more dangerous for commuters. why would it mean that there would be less of these vehicles?i think there would be the same number of jeepneys and buses. Because there are still a lot of commuters in the Philippines. You know its funny that the MMDA, or whoever it was, (i forgot who) was blaming private vehicles for the heavy traffic in the roads. LOL seriously? Private vehicles are minding their own business and are not the ones "na nagpapaunahan sa pasahero, kaya nagkakatraffic".

Yeah but what I meant was, would there be a difference if someone owned all of these vehicles and gave a fixed but high salary to each driver whether they get a big amount of passenger or not?
