Do dreams mean anything...?

I dreamt that I missed my girlfriend at the airport.. then couldn't get in touch with her for the rest of the dream! I know people always say that dreams mean things, but I also dream about giant tsunamis and running at them with a surf board!! So surely it's just a funky blur of thoughts in your mind that are left over after a long and sometimes stressful and eventful day! What do you think...?

No, scientists have found out a long time ago that dreams do not mean anything; they are just your brain random replaying/thinking about the events of the day and of your life. Unfortunately, some people do place a lot of spiritual importance on dreams and actually have claimed to dreamed lottery numbers or dreamed up future events, so maybe there is an element of the supernatural there, but I think for most people it's just a random compilation of the events of the day.

Hmmm, if it is just the brain replaying/thinking about random events during the day, is it possible that it can be used to get messages about what your mind thinks and feels about those events on a more subconscious level..? As often dreams tell you things that, after the dream has happened, seem obvious... yet without the dream, you might go unaware of these things.

In my opinion, dreams have got a dreaming and this one you dreamt might be an advice for you. I also had dreams like this which I understood as special message. But sometimes it's difficult to know exactly what they want to mean.

Maybe you shouldn't miss her at any place and help her in a problem she might have as she might need you!? Yes, I head some special dreams. There is one I had during my childhood and dreamt it twice: there was a grey house in front of me, I stood outside in the garden which was enclosed by a wall and I was alone and felt pity, looking around. Slowly, I started to walk to the gate next to the house and stopped just at the entrance. Looking outside, the only thing I saw a large alley with large trees on both sides. At that moment, I didn't know where to go neither if I should go as I didn't know the end of this road, when a voice asked me: what do you will decide? Do you want to leave? At that moment, a woke up and was confused because I didn't understand the sense of this dream. Several years later, I dreamt the same dream a third time: when I already moved from one country to another one. There I already had the answer to my question: I decided to go.

Wow, that's amazing. How did that make you feel..? To recognize that same dream after all those years, must have been uplifting to know that the confusion had been overcome. Did the dream affect your decision in any way? When you had the dream a third time, was it exactly the same..? Or was the decision also made in the dream, just like it had in real life? I love that story, especially since you had the dream in your childhood and adulthood, such a long time had passed, yet it still reoccured. My mum once told me of a dream she had, about a relationship with someone. She was sitting in the car next to him and he had fallen asleep. A voice had told her to take the wheel... And she ended up being in a relationship with that man for 13 years, and they're both much happier because of it. They've split up now, but with nothing but positive feelings for each other. Amazing how dreams affect decisions. I want a dream like you two had!!

I do think that at times dreams do mean something. However, I do not think that this is always the case. I don't think we always read to much into our dreams, as it might not mean a thing. But if a dream does mean something, I think that eventually we'll find out its meaning. It will eventually come to us with time.

Interesting, do you think that if we know which dreams are important, we can live a better and less confused life? I ask because you say that dream meanings come to us in time... but if we were to know that a meaning is important we could look into the dream more. And maybe make better decisions... do you agree?
