i have switched from microsoft office 2010 to openoffice.org as my trial version as been expired. i have used microsfot office 2010 for about 1 year........now i am using openoffice.
in past i have used 2 version of openoffice but the 3 grasped my attention with simple and enhanced look and features. for a free version its a lot, i had even tried lotus but openoffice.org is the best i can have.
it as all features of microsoft office, i use daily....except its word correction is lesser than microsoft office but its fair enough when we compare price.
as any one used it and let share you experience in here.........

I use microsoft office and have no idea of openoffice. But how can I get it if I like to use it? Is it free of cost?

Few years back I had discovered Openoffice as an alternative to MS-office. Today I can definitely say Openoffice is one of the best application software. There are lots of features added in Openoffice. I saw many extensions are there, we can add extensions in order to work more smoothly. It is definitely better in terms of license policy, because it is free and under GPL.

Personally I have never tried Open Office, so I cannot compare it. I miss back in the day when they included all of these type of programs with your Computer when you bought them instead of having to pay for anything you want on there.

yes considering that open office is free i think is better than ms office or lotus notes as well..features are ok and almost similar to other productivity suite so why i must pay if i can get it for free!!i installed open office on my pc too and so i use it without problems and i never felt the absence of ms office or other suites!!

I love Open Office as well. It's brilliant for tasks that are not very complex, such as writing my articles that I'm going to publish online or keeping simple spreadsheets.
Microsoft Office has about a billion fancy features I never use, they're just taking up space on my computer. I still have to use it now and then, especially when a client sends in a heavily formated document, but whenever I have a choice, I prefer Open Office.
